From 5a79742d473b1fa946e17a99fbf24e43df2fe0cb Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: bandzalkin Date: Wed, 21 Oct 2026 16:20:30 +0300 Subject: [PATCH 1/2] feat(omp): deliver native ask questions to the room OMP's structured ask dialog is enabled per native session and an ask is posted to the room as this turn's reply, mentioning the requester, with the questions, options and recommendations rendered together. The native tool receives an acknowledgement rather than a fabricated answer; the participant's reply arrives as a later message in the same session, so the room's serial queue is never blocked and the prompt is not aborted. A failed post returns an error explanation to the model; a stop for this room ends the turn. Shutdown refuses new UI and host-tool callbacks. --- docs/acp.md | 51 +++++- src/band/adapters/omp.py | 51 ++++++ src/band/integrations/omproomask.py | 74 +++++++++ src/band/integrations/omprpc.py | 5 + tests/adapters/omp/conftest.py | 23 +++ tests/adapters/omp/kit.py | 27 ++++ tests/adapters/omp/test_room_ask.py | 145 ++++++++++++++++++ .../test_reply_boundary.py | 4 + tests/framework_conformance/turnprobes/omp.py | 3 + tests/integrations/ompaskpeer.py | 130 ++++++++++++++++ tests/integrations/ompasksmoke.js | 27 ++++ tests/integrations/ompasksmoke.py | 92 +++++++++++ tests/integrations/omppeer.py | 2 + .../integrations/omprpc/test_ask_shutdown.py | 63 ++++++++ tests/integrations/test_omproomask.py | 27 ++++ 15 files changed, 722 insertions(+), 2 deletions(-) create mode 100644 src/band/integrations/omproomask.py create mode 100644 tests/adapters/omp/test_room_ask.py create mode 100644 tests/integrations/ompaskpeer.py create mode 100644 tests/integrations/ompasksmoke.js create mode 100644 tests/integrations/ompasksmoke.py create mode 100644 tests/integrations/omprpc/test_ask_shutdown.py create mode 100644 tests/integrations/test_omproomask.py diff --git a/docs/acp.md b/docs/acp.md index 1bfc03fac..c43ded409 100644 --- a/docs/acp.md +++ b/docs/acp.md @@ -269,11 +269,24 @@ negotiate RPC protocol v2 to preserve structured text/image tool results. A Band `error` + rejects the prompt with JSON-RPC `internal_error`, the Core failure projection in + `error.data`; room cleanup and agent shutdown also fail it. A second prompt while one is + pending in that room is rejected with `invalid_params`. +- Room events bind to a prompt only once its Band post returns, so a previous turn's + late event stays unsolicited and cannot settle the prompt or drop the send. A terminal + outcome settles the prompt even while its Band REST send is still pending; the + request then returns once the cancelled send and completion timer have unwound. One + timeout bounds the send and the reply together. +- Error updates carry the same projection on the agent-message chunk's `_meta`, unsolicited + errors in mapped rooms included. Their text and projected keys and values are + credential-redacted; values under credential-named fields are redacted in full. +- The ACP Python client drains queued update handlers before surfacing a prompt error, so + a slow client handler can still delay its own `prompt()`. diff --git a/src/band/adapters/omp.py b/src/band/adapters/omp.py index 35a80971e..bfde0f3e2 100644 --- a/src/band/adapters/omp.py +++ b/src/band/adapters/omp.py @@ -32,6 +32,7 @@ OmpHistoryConverter, OmpSessionState, ) +from band.core import delivery, exceptions from band.core.adapterconfig import BaseAdapterConfig from band.core.delivery import DeliveryFailedError, reraise_delivery_cause from band.core.model_catalog import ModelSelection @@ -51,6 +52,7 @@ MessageType, PlatformMessage, ) +from band.integrations import omproomask from band.integrations.omp import finalize_omp_command, validate_omp_command from band.integrations.ompprocess import ( DEFAULT_OMP_COMMAND, @@ -152,6 +154,10 @@ class _SessionChange(BaseModel): cancelled: bool +class AskDialog(BaseModel): + enabled: bool + + @dataclass class OmpRoom: runtime: OmpRpcClient @@ -419,6 +425,13 @@ async def _open_room(self, room_id: str, history: OmpSessionState) -> OmpRoom: await room.runtime.request( "set_host_tools", tools=cast(list[JsonValue], self._host_tools()) ) + # The select/editor fallback cannot receive an answer in a room turn; + # cancelling it would abort the entire native prompt. + dialog = AskDialog.model_validate( + await room.runtime.request("set_ask_dialog", enabled=True) + ) + if not dialog.enabled: + raise RuntimeError("OMP refused the structured ask dialog") await self._select_model( room, self._room_selections.get(room_id, self.model_selection) ) @@ -475,6 +488,7 @@ def _build_system_context(self) -> str: ) return ( f"{prompt}\n\n{COMMUNICATION_INSTRUCTIONS}\n\n{TURN_COMPLETION_GUIDANCE}\n\n" + f"{omproomask.ROOM_ASK_GUIDANCE}\n\n" "Band platform context is factual SDK metadata, not a participant message.
