Bug: failed/invalid sending transaction never clears (ethereum) #1428

Description

@intangir

Is there an existing issue for this?

  • I have searched the existing issues

Current Behavior

I tried to send 15 USDT on ethereum, it showed the transaction created on my local wallet client, but it never showed up on etherscan or any other block explorer. it's as if it never sent at all? or was quietly rejected/ignored?

I tried sending a new transaction to myself, a 'self send nonce reset' with the same nonce, and a higher fee. it worked and sent, but the original (now invalid) transaction still remains visible in the wallet client as 'Sending (0/3)'

i have no way to clear it, it should be impossible for it to ever process it since it has the same nonce correct?

Expected Behavior

I'd hope there would be a way to either:

  • adjust/increase fees
  • resend a transaction that never sent,
  • manually clear the local transaction history and resync it,

but none of those options exist.

Reproduce Steps

no idea how to reproduce it, not sure how/why this happened. my original transaction was never sent?

Environment

  • Operating system and version: linux mint 22.3, stack wallet 2.6
