Code of Conduct

Our Pledge

We want mcp-searxng to be a welcoming, respectful project for everyone who uses, contributes to, or discusses it.

Contributors, maintainers, and community members are expected to treat each other with dignity and care, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, level of experience, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, sexual identity or orientation, socioeconomic status, or technology choices.

Expected Behavior

Examples of behavior that helps the project include:

  • Being respectful when discussing bugs, design tradeoffs, reviews, and support requests
  • Giving and receiving feedback in good faith
  • Keeping conversations focused on the project and its users
  • Assuming honest intent while still naming problems clearly
  • Making space for newcomers and people with different levels of experience
  • Respecting privacy and avoiding unnecessary disclosure of personal information

Unacceptable Behavior

Examples of unacceptable behavior include:

  • Harassment, intimidation, threats, or sustained disruption
  • Insults, slurs, demeaning jokes, or personal attacks
  • Sexualized language, imagery, or attention in project spaces
  • Publishing private communications or personal information without consent
  • Repeatedly pushing a conversation after being asked to stop
  • Using project spaces to promote hate, exclusion, or targeted abuse
  • Any conduct that would reasonably make participation unsafe or unwelcome

Scope

This code of conduct applies in all mcp-searxng project spaces, including GitHub issues, pull requests, discussions, documentation, release channels, and community support conversations connected to the project.

It also applies when someone represents the project in public, for example by speaking on behalf of the project, using official project channels, or presenting project work in a way that affects the community.

Reporting

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this code of conduct, please contact the project maintainer privately when possible.

If a private contact method is not available, open a minimal GitHub issue asking the maintainer to arrange a private reporting channel. Do not include sensitive incident details, personal information, or screenshots in a public issue.

Reports should include enough context for the maintainer to understand and respond to the concern, such as:

  • What happened
  • Where it happened
  • Who was involved
  • Whether the behavior is ongoing
  • Any relevant links or screenshots, shared privately

The maintainer will make reasonable efforts to protect the privacy and safety of people who report incidents.

Enforcement

The maintainer is responsible for clarifying standards, reviewing reports, and taking action when needed.

Possible enforcement actions include:

  • Asking someone to stop or correct behavior
  • Removing inappropriate content
  • Issuing a warning
  • Temporarily limiting participation in project spaces
  • Permanently banning participation in project spaces
  • Escalating to platform-level moderation when necessary

Enforcement decisions should be proportional to the severity and impact of the behavior, with priority given to the safety and health of the project community.

Attribution

This code of conduct is aligned with the Contributor Covenant model and adapted for the mcp-searxng project.
