Unable to Grant Write_Secure_Settings

Not sure if this has been abandoned, but attempting to grant WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS in android 16 (Pixel 9 Pro or Pixel 7) fails, claiming "package not found". Attempting to do it manually through adb fails as well. Cannot script changing private DNS settings without it. Any thoughts?

Worked for me on a Pixel 10 Pro, all permissions successfully granted.

What app are you trying to grant the permission to?

I had no problems with Tasker, Join and AutoInput. Tasker Settings fails with "package not found" but this is expected, as I don't have Tasker Settings installed in that phone.
