More extensive image format testing

test all the image formats:
e.g. un8
generate a tiny ppm (P3) image; make kernel that fetches a pixel
observe that:
un8 returns 1.0,0.0,0.0 for red
u8 returns 255.0,0.0,0.0 for red
...
