Contribute: Data Quality Correction Example

James Rudolph edited this page Nov 18, 2023 · 1 revision

This is geared towards users new to GitHub who are interesting in updating/maintaining the quality of the game data.

This example will guide through an update to one of Absol's Agendas.

Making your first change

Homepage

1

Navigate to the data

In this example, navigate to the agenda data files and select the absol.json file.

2 3

Make changes

Make sure you're on the "master" branch and then click the edit symbol.

6

Note that you will be asked to "Fork" the repository if you haven't already. In plain words, you're copying the bot's code to your personal account.

5 7

Now you can make your changes:

8

Save/commit your changes

When you're done your changes, press the "Commit Changes" button:

9

Enter a short description of what you're changing and why.

The more detail the better, and it will help the devs understand what you're doing and why. 10

Get your changes looked at by a Dev

Now we need to create the "Pull Request"

This is the step you're asking the Devs to review your change. 11 12

At this point, you're done! Ask on Discord for the Devs to test and review your changes

13

Once tested, you should see a green checkmark that "Checks" have passed!

14

After a dev has reviewed the code, you should see green checkmarks across the board!

Typically the Dev will accept your changes at this point and push the changes to the bot. 15

Once the changes are live, you'll see that they were "merged". You can safely delete your branch.
