Installation (winows)

This page covers installing BinaryFetch on Windows.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
  • Administrator rights (the installer adds BinaryFetch to the system PATH)
  • Optional: a terminal with Sixel support for image, GIF and video art, such as Windows Terminal 1.22 or newer. See Terminal-Compatibility.

Note

BinaryFetch works in any terminal without Sixel support. You simply use ASCII art instead of images, GIFs and videos.

Install

  1. Open the Releases page and download the latest BinaryFetch-vX.X-Setup.exe.
  2. Run the installer and accept the license.
  3. Finish the wizard. By default BinaryFetch is installed to C:\Program Files\BinaryFetch, and shortcuts are added to the Start menu and the desktop.
  4. Open a new terminal window and run:
binaryfetch

Important

Use a new terminal window. Terminals that were already open do not see the updated PATH.

Tip

If binaryfetch is still not found in a new terminal, sign out and back in, or restart Windows. See Troubleshooting.

Silent install

For scripted or unattended installs, use the standard installer switches:

BinaryFetch-vX.X-Setup.exe /VERYSILENT

Use /SILENT instead to show a progress window without prompts.
