As for how to; make a new branch, make your changes. If feasible for you merge changes from main when you're done. If too much has changed since you started, I'll try my best to do it. And create a pull request :v
Just try to keep the code structure the same. It might not be the best, but I can follow and that's what counts for me in the end.
