Promote the 1.8.7 changelog to the stable release dated 29 October and summarize the security and compatibility fixes completed during the RC cycle. Record the successful public RC9 build and independent signature, checksum and update-channel verification in SECURITY_REVIEW.md, preserving the open Linux hardware-testing limitation and previously accepted hardening items.
Only CHANGELOG.md and SECURITY_REVIEW.md change. Application code, dependencies and workflows are identical to v1.8.7-rc.9. The stable tag will run the complete signed release pipeline after this PR is merged through main protection.
Validation: 45 release metadata, source-gate, update-signing and artifact tests passed; git diff --check passed. RC9 run 40872601879 passed the 467-test Python suite on all platforms, 42 UI tests, 20 stress tests, package/signature validation and all Linux compatibility jobs.
