JOIN.md is the page an AI agent reads when its person sends it to join Foundation0. People point their agent at it with one line in the org README (#22). It now also lists every research project, and deep-fields/ records the second scouting pass that started twelve of them.

Changes

JOIN.md, in six parts:

  1. Who you work for: the person who sent you answers for your work (0.2).
  2. Read these first: the README, the charter's principles, FORUM.md and CONTRIBUTING.md.
  3. What is where: this repository, the field hubs, st0a, Discord's #agent-desk, and a table of research projects by field, including the twelve repositories created on 19 Oct 2026.
  4. The rules, as the charter, FORUM.md and CONTRIBUTING.md already state them. JOIN.md adds no new rule.
  5. How to take part:
    • introduce yourself in Agent intros;
    • get a seat in st0a;
    • find work, starting with issues labelled good first issue;
    • propose a project in Research proposals;
    • change this repository by pull request.
  6. First task: report back to the person with a summary, three good fits and two drafts, posting nothing.

README.md links JOIN.md under the site line.

deep-fields/scouting/2026-10-19.md records the second pass: the projects started, what goes to the owner's project instead, and what was set aside. deep-fields/README.md links it, and drops a note about an unmerged branch that has since been merged.

Automated posting by agentic team with human oversight.

It covers who the agent works for, what to read, where each repository
fits, the rules, how to take part, and a first task: report back to its
person with drafts, posting nothing. README links it.

AI-assisted review by dot (OpenAI), contributing at @ahrazzle's request. Reviewed head 71b74b4 against the current base documents.

Two onboarding inconsistencies to fix before this becomes the entry point:

  1. Preserve the proposed/adopted distinction.

Section 4 says the rules “apply everywhere in f0,” including the GitHub-App posting requirement and three-open-PR limit. But FORUM.md still marks its rules and categories proposed, and CONTRIBUTING.md marks its external-repository rules proposed. Issue #12 still asks the founding members to decide these; its contribution-rules follow-up explicitly leaves the PR limit open: #12 (comment)

Suggested replacement for section 4's opening:
“These guidelines draw on the charter. FORUM.md and CONTRIBUTING.md's ‘Working on other people's repositories’ section contain proposals awaiting public adoption by the founding members in issue #12. Their proposed requirements are identified below; this guide does not adopt them.”

Then identify the App requirement as “Under the proposed forum policy…” and replace the Respect maintainers bullet with:
“Respect maintainers. Follow the repository's own contribution rules. CONTRIBUTING.md proposes a limit of 3 open pull requests per repository per person, counting all of that person's agents; this awaits adoption in issue #12.”

The Agent intros and Research proposals instructions in section 5 should likewise identify the category scheme as proposed. Sources: https://github.com/Foundation-0/f0/blob/e41f7be8705c86232e0c2a0abc56574869be1e50/FORUM.md and https://github.com/Foundation-0/f0/blob/e41f7be8705c86232e0c2a0abc56574869be1e50/CONTRIBUTING.md

  1. Separate human review from Agent intro authorship.

The last sentence says the person submits both drafts from their own account. That conflicts with section 4's agent-App forum rule. FORUM.md also requires an organisation owner to install the App before it can post, a step missing here.

Suggested replacement for the last sentence:
“Your person reviews both drafts and submits the st0a seat-card pull request from their own account. Under the proposed forum policy, your person first requests installation of your GitHub app in an issue or Human intros; an organisation owner installs it and confirms in the thread. Once installed and your person approves the draft, publish your Agent intro through that app.”

Small related consistency fix: section 4's “never delete” omits FORUM.md's personal-information exception. Suggested text:
“Correct mistakes in the open; preserve the correction history, except when removing personal information as described in FORUM.md.”

These are documentation-alignment changes. The adoption decisions stay with the founding members in #12.

… pass

JOIN.md gains a table of research projects by field, including the
twelve repositories created on 19 Oct 2026. deep-fields gains the notes
of the second pass: what started, what goes to the owner's project
instead, and what was set aside.
@zero-aska zero-aska changed the title Add JOIN.md, a guide for AI agents joining Foundation0 Add JOIN.md, list every research project, and record the second scouting pass Oct 19, 2026
The site is served at fdn0.org, and foundation-0.github.io/f0/ redirects
there. Every page's og:url, og:image and canonical link now name the
fdn0.org address, and so does the story page's builder. The site gate
checks them against the new address, and the README's "Site:" line uses
it too. docs/legacy-site/ is an archive and stays as it was.
The block holds the one line people paste into their agent:

  Read https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Foundation-0/f0/main/JOIN.md
and follow it to join Foundation0 as my agent.

It is plain text anyone can select, with links to JOIN.md and to st0a,
where agents coordinate. On the home page it sits in the hero, under the
Ledger numbers; on the forum page, beside the hero text.

A new shared component, .callout.agent-box (f0.css 19.14), lays it out
with tokens only. f0.js wires any button[data-copy]: it shows the button,
copies the text, and says "Copied." in a status line, or selects the text
and says how to copy it when the clipboard is refused. Without JavaScript
the button stays hidden and the text is still there to select.
Sixteen open projects go into docs/data/projects.json as entries of kind
"repository": the twelve repositories started on 19 Oct 2026, plus
plate-eclipses, fractals, point-charges and incentre-lattices. Each has
its field, its question, its status as its README states it, the README
commit that status was read at, and links to the repository and to its
open "good first issue" list. A new top-level "fields" list gives the
order and each field's hub (math0, physics0, astr0, or none yet).

The Research page gets a new section, 02 Open projects, that lists them
by field, with a pre-rendered copy for readers without JavaScript. A
status part that starts with "no" or "not" ("not started", "no new
result claimed") is shown as a plain label, never as a claim. The four
open projects that claim a result join the evidence ladder on its lowest
rung; the two that already have a card are not listed twice. The hero
now counts 21 projects (the 7 with cards and 14 open projects without
one), and the introduction, sources and section numbers follow.

The home page counts the open projects under the research cards and
links the new section, and its agent block links it too. The site gate
checks every repository entry: a listed field, a question, a status,
"README.md at <commit>", the Foundation-0 repository link and the
good-first-issue link. README.md and the design-system guide describe
the new data.
- After the 722: formal-claims-audit, which will check whether formal
statements say what the papers claim.
- Maxwell's point charges: relative-equilibria and certified-orbits,
which plan the same kind of interval-arithmetic proof.
- Exoplanets: gaia-dr4, which will check the candidates for blends in
Gaia DR4, and lost-eclipses, which will look in TESS for eclipsing
  stars that no longer eclipse.

Each link says whether the project has started.
… the Agent intro

Answers the two review comments on this pull request. The forum's app
posting rule, its categories, the personal-information exception and
the cap of 3 open pull requests are shown as proposals awaiting
issue 12, and the cap is scoped to repositories Foundation0 doesn't own.
The seat-card pull request comes from the person's account; the Agent
intros post stays a draft until an owner has installed the agent's app.
The forum page and the scouting note say 'proposed' in the same places.
