feat(media): let people open, zoom, play and share what their chats hold - #11
Conversation
AVFoundation fetches media with its own HTTP stack, so the cookie goes in through the public AVURLAssetHTTPCookiesKey. Readiness reads what AVFoundation makes of a file before it plays: playable, unsupported, a 401 or a failed load.
…place Photos zoom and pan, videos play in the system player, documents open in Quick Look and voice notes and audio files play inside their cell. Share hands over the original file, downloaded only when a share target asks.
An invented 1.5 s Ogg/Opus tone decodes to PCM; against the demo server a video and a voice note open with the cookie and a 401 without it. The CI floor rises to 185 tests.

… next one A document cell no longer clears its download state before the cancelled task ends, a dismissed video viewer stops after its readiness check, and a test wait that times out now says so.
…l hold it The wipe invalidated the session's URLSession while the chat list, the thread and the media viewer could still hold its client, and their next request raised an uncatchable NSGenericException. The wipe now ends the client instead: its requests are cancelled and later sends fail as cancelled, and the URLSession is invalidated only when the client is freed.
A title-only SharePreview left the header icon blank.
The system hides both without a photo-library add usage string.
Tapping a photo, a video, a document or a voice note in a chat did nothing yet: the thread drew every cell, but nothing opened.
Now they open:
AVFoundation fetches media with its own HTTP stack, so the session cookie reaches it through the public
AVURLAssetHTTPCookiesKey. A 401 on any of these files ends the session the same way it does on every other route. The design expected Ogg/Opus voice notes not to play. They do: AVFoundation on the iOS 26.5 simulator decodes them. A test decodes an invented Ogg/Opus clip to PCM, and a live test opens the demo server's voice notes over http with the cookie, then checks that the same file without the cookie comes back as a 401. If a device can't read a file, the cell says so and keeps the transcript under it. DESIGN.md records both results in sections 2, 3.6 and 7.
A 401 on a video used to crash the app instead of showing the sign-in screen. The wipe that runs when a session ends invalidated the session's
URLSession, and the thread behind the viewer then asked it for more, which raises an exception Swift cannot catch. That bug was already on main (a launch with an ended session crashed the same way through the chat list), and the viewer made it easy to hit. The wipe now ends the client instead: requests in flight are cancelled, later ones fail as cancelled without reaching the server, and theURLSessionis only invalidated once nothing holds the client. The share sheet header now shows the photo's thumbnail instead of a blank icon. With the photo-library add string in the Info.plist, it also offers Save Image and Save Video.
Tests: 12 new, floor raised to 209. The new session test crashes on the old wipe. I proved the gate fails one above the count.
