A quiet place to practice typing. Novltype pairs a minimal interface with mechanical keyboard sounds, so you can focus on the words in front of you.

Use a desktop or laptop with a full keyboard for the best experience.
- Choose your keyboard row, word length, and session time.
- Open settings to pick a display mode, typing mode, theme, and sounds.
- Press Enter (or Return on Mac) to start.
- Type each word and press Space to move to the next one.
- Press Esc to finish and see your speed and accuracy.
After a session, press Enter / Return to play again or Esc to return to the start screen. Timed sessions finish automatically when time runs out.
- One word: focus on a single word at a time.
- Paragraph: practice with a page of words.
- Rise: words move upward as you type through them.
- Type mode: advance with Space.
- Jump mode: advance automatically after typing the word.
- Strict key: require the correct next letter before progressing.
Practice freely or choose a 30-second, 1-, 2-, 3-, or 5-minute session. Filter words by keyboard row or length to work on the keys and words you find challenging.
Choose a light or dark theme, turn keyboard and feedback sounds on or off, or enable spoken words. Selecting a speaker says “welcome” so you can preview the voice. Available voices depend on your browser and installed system voices.
Your settings are saved in your browser for your next visit.
Track your typing speed in words per minute (WPM), accuracy, elapsed or remaining time, and completed words during each session. Your results appear when you finish.
Open insights beside settings for your best WPM, recent averages, and five latest sessions. Use the view all icon for the full history, word counts, session durations, and overall totals. History is saved only in this browser and can be cleared from the panel. Clearing browser site data also removes your history.
