ci(release): the release conda leg does not run the vendored-package smoke test #1855

Closed

Description

@JarryShaw

cron-conda.yml:573-577 smoke-tests the built conda package with util/conda_vendor.py --smoke, added by #1821. The conda leg of create-release.yml, which publishes release packages, has no such step: git grep -i smoke finds none in that file, and neither workflow explains the difference. So a release package ships without the check the weekly cron applies.

Fix: add the same step after conda build in the release leg, or record why the release path does not need it.
