The UUID support in this proposal is now covered by #262, merged at 0a835f0a965307513e5d3b391fdf6db2bbf2e783. It adds binary UUID decoding and text UUID array parsing while preserving existing String defaults, as requested in the original #262 compatibility review. UUID conversion is available explicitly with type_map=Dict(:uuid => UUID); binary UUID arrays remain unsupported.

The refreshed implementation passed full minimum/current local suites and all 14 PR checks. Its exact merged main passed all 10 hosted jobs, with all eight coverage uploads accepted for the correct repository and commit. Closing this duplicate now that the compatible support is integrated. Changing default result types would need a separate compatibility decision.

AI disclosure: This work was prepared with assistance from OpenAI Codex.
