This imports a concrete 21-state binary Turing machine that halts on the blank tape exactly when Goldbach's conjecture is false. It preserves the complete prime-search proof, the earlier 25-state machine's semantics, and their halting equivalence. The result is an explicit computability construction, not a proof or disproof of Goldbach's conjecture.

The finite-state machine model, execution semantics, reachability composition and unary tape-scanning lemmas provide infrastructure for future small-machine formalizations. Bounded source, module-path and declaration-name searches found no matching construction in Mathlib or Tau Ceti; pool source/card/history and open/closed PR/issue searches found no Lean Pool duplicate. These searches are evidence within those corpora, not a claim of exhaustive semantic coverage.

  • Upstream: google-deepmind/cryptids at f873434871b2301d5c8c91ba6fa224f92c93c1e1.
  • Eligibility: release published 2026-10-09 11:20:24 UTC, followed by Moritz Firsching's Zulip announcement on 2026-10-16 08:54:36 UTC. Both fall inside this run's window, 2026-10-09 09:15:16 UTC to 2026-10-16 09:15:16 UTC.
  • License: verified Apache-2.0 for the Lean software; Google's copyright is preserved. Attribution retains Faldor/Firsching, Gemini Argon, Leng's 2024 Apache-2.0 baseline and the earlier anonymous construction.
  • Provenance: AI, as described by upstream. Porting and optimization were also performed with AI assistance.
  • Scope: the Goldbach dependency closure (Machines, Goldbach21, the Goldbach proposition and Semantics), top-level entry and generated public aggregate. Riemann, ZF, Busy Beaver, upstream tooling and non-code materials are outside this import. One YAML card is added; LeanPool.lean is unchanged.

Ported Lean/Mathlib v4.35.0-rc4 to the pool's exact v4.35.0-rc3 / Mathlib c55e6e786f49471c72fbddbec5415808896aec1e pins. The external-file table loader is replaced by kernel-visible literals, independently checked against all 92 upstream transition cells. Headline statements are preserved. Execution, reachability and tape-scanning helpers now quantify over arbitrary state counts, so the 21-state candidate can reuse them. Both machines instantiate one shared counter-draining induction. Added 30 missing definition/field docstrings, narrowed imports to tape/state-transition and primality modules, and reused the proved bootstrap execution directly instead of elaborating its execution again. No gate changes or waivers.

Local validation at head f0c973257:

  • Warning-free project build, lake exe mk_all --check, unchanged fixed pool index and git diff --check.
  • lake exe lint-style LeanPool.CryptidsGoldbach.Imports passes.
  • All slow declaration linters pass for 6 modules / 427 declarations, including generated declarations.
  • The repository's static quality checker passes over the complete checkout.
  • The repository's actual axiom, option/backdoor, declaration-resolution and card checks pass for the imported project. The axiom scan resolves 163 declarations; the environment audit covers all owned compiled declarations, including auxiliaries. Only propext, Quot.sound and Classical.choice are permitted. There is no sorry/admit, custom axiom, native_decide, unsafe/partial, diagnostic command or option override in the imported closure.
  • Python implementation is unchanged. Full applicable protected checks and configured automated reviews remain authoritative in CI. Current-head Lean Action CI has now passed the full pool build, warning scan, linters, style and quality/trust checks. Build project and source separation are SUCCESS; Documentation scope passed and its content-inapplicable preflight was skipped.

Measured compile cost: lake build LeanPool.CryptidsGoldbach.Imports, with warm pinned dependencies and cold project artifacts. The initial baseline was 24.52 s; the first unpaired optimized run was 24.71 s under concurrent validation load, so no speedup is inferred from that pair. Before Greptile repairs, sequential pairs gave means 26.01 → 16.93 s. Repeated sequential alternating builds at the final head give baseline 27.71 / 27.66 s versus optimized 17.10 / 17.60 s: means 27.68 → 17.35 s (37.3% faster). Each run removes all project artifacts in one dedicated scratch workspace, using the same warm dependency cache and default Lake parallelism. Other tasks share the VM, so individual samples carry scheduling noise; every measured pair improves consistently.

The dependency graph shrank from 3,221 to 675 jobs. Synchronous profiling of Goldbach21.lean, counting each named declaration once, decreased from 123,851 heartbeats over 145 declarations to 108,271 over 146 declarations (12.6%), including the new generic drain theorem; boot_chk0_edit fell from 3,905 to 264 heartbeats (93.2%). Counts divide Lean's raw allocation units by 1,000 and exclude repeated open Classical in wrapper traces. The generic helpers and single drain induction preserve stronger reuse while reducing compiled owned declarations from 432 to 427. No further material safe improvement was evident.

Author-side review coverage and findings are recorded in the separate acquisition review. These author statements are not evidence for an independent reviewer. Greptile’s fresh review reports no remaining blocking code issue; both maintenance suggestions were repaired and their threads resolved. The configured GPT review independently passed all five rubrics at f0c973257c763f6c3234aa4272ab0650a5fffa83. Its author-context findings were excluded from its mathematical evidence; the prior-approval cue has been removed from this description. CI completed successfully after that review began, on the same head.

The source is ready for the protected native squash queue. Daily documentation publishing remains asynchronous and is not treated as a merge gate.

Advisory cross-file review against Lean Pool's supervisory rubric. This is not by itself a significance, source-verification, or merge verdict.

RetriggerView in Greptile

[Low impact] No blocking code issue remains in the reviewed changes; external source and license verification remain outside this review's conclusions.

Summary

Imports the 21-state binary Goldbach machine, the earlier 25-state machine, and proofs connecting their blank-tape halting behavior to Goldbach counterexamples.

  • The 21-state machine halts exactly when Goldbach is false.
  • Machine proofs can compose exact runs and whole tape scans.

Proof profile (new / modified Lean files)

lake build wall time (changed modules): 18.86 s (= 0.31 min) — user 15.59 s, sys 2.91 s.

This build covers the changed modules and their dependency cones on top of the restored cache. The serial per-file sums below are useful for ranking slow files, not as a build budget.

Total heartbeats: 130,842 maxHeartbeats units across 6 valid files (2,132 added LOC).

Sum of lean --profile: 13895.1 ms (= 13.90 s) across 6 valid files. Import-excluded time: 9147.1 ms (= 9.15 s).

Count-heartbeats wall-clock total: 26.98 s. Repeated import cost inside lean --profile: 4748.0 ms (= 4.75 s).

Heartbeat values sum disjoint root command traces with trace.profiler.useHeartbeats and synchronous elaboration, converted from raw allocations to maxHeartbeats units by dividing by 1000. They include command elaboration and kernel checking, exclude imports, and include profiler overhead; they are not comparable to the deprecated linter's totals. Per-file wall clocks are measured under parallel load and are noisier than heartbeats.

LOC counts added lines in the profiled Lean files from this PR diff.

"summary": "Exact f0c9732 is a complete, significant computability import: the explicit 21-state binary machine halts from the blank tape exactly when Goldbach's conjecture is false. This is a halting-semantics theorem, with no claim to prove or disprove Goldbach.",

"mathematics": "The real blank-tape init and Option-valued transition evaluator define halting. Prime-search and stage proofs cover every target 2*w+4; the Nat.Prime bridge covers every even n>2. The candidate's embedding uses edited state 2 explicitly. Unbounded successful stages contradict any finite terminal execution, so the argument is not bounded simulation. No Goldbach conclusion is supplied as a premise.",
"fidelity": "All 92 public transition cells match the pinned upstream instruction programs; both missing transitions and all Fin bounds were checked. The upstream-to-port comparison preserves the critical embedding and halting endpoints. Generalized finite-state helpers, the shared counter-drain induction and bootstrap reuse retain genuine proved transition hypotheses.",
"source_and_license": "Compared with google-deepmind/cryptids at f873434871b2301d5c8c91ba6fa224f92c93c1e1. The port preserves Google copyright, Faldor/Firsching attribution, Leng's baseline lineage and declared AI proof provenance. Imported Lean software and machine instructions fall within the stated Apache-2.0 software scope; upstream's separate license for other materials is not generalized to software, and no upstream narrative artifacts are vendored.",
"novelty": "Bounded exact pinned and live Mathlib/Tau Ceti tree inspection, pinned Mathlib Lean-content search and current indexed repository searches identified no corresponding concrete Goldbach machine theorem. Mathlib's Fermat-number Goldbach theorem is different. The pool's matching entries are candidate records. These checks support this acceptance; keyword absence alone is not a universal semantic nonexistence proof.",

🤖 LLM review (gpt-6.1-sol, 5 rubrics)

Reviewed head: f0c973257c763f6c3234aa4272ab0650a5fffa83

Verdict: ✅ approve — computed from the rubric verdicts below, not chosen by a model.

Rubric Verdict Bottom line
Faithfulness ✅ pass All four card headlines match the Lean; CI validation remains unconfirmed.
Novelty ✅ pass No duplicate of the four headlines was identified in the inspected Mathlib and pool sources or supplied Tau Ceti declarations.
Significance ✅ pass The explicit 21-state Goldbach construction meets the research-level significance bar; only 71 of its 2,123 Lean lines are transition-table rows.
Sources ✅ pass The pinned upstream semantics supports both halting equivalences, and the port preserves credit for the earlier formalization.
Code quality (advisory) ✅ pass The shared execution, scanning and counter-draining lemmas provide a competent maintenance structure; CI remains in progress, and local compilation was not rerun because this checkout lacks dependency artifacts.
Aspect Value
Proves the claim ✅ proves_it
Matches cited source ✅ matches
Fit ✅ good_fit

Mode mixed
Code quality 3 / 5

Statement check: The literal 21-state binary machine halts from state zero on the blank tape iff some even natural number greater than two lacks two Nat.Prime summands; the reference equivalence and state counts also match.

halts_candidate_iff_not_goldbach establishes Halts candidate ↔ ¬ GoldbachConjecture, supported by complete machine-search semantics, a 25-to-21-state halting equivalence, and reusable execution and counter invariants.

Faithfulness findings (1)

  • prompt-injection — PR-wide
The description invokes prior approval of this exact head, and the discussion supplies author-side approval verdicts. These contributor-controlled claims could steer the independent review and were excluded from its mathematical evidence.
Evidence: Prose only: the description says “approves exact head f0c973257c763f6c3234aa4272ab0650a5fffa83”; two discussion review payloads contain “"verdict": "approve"”.

Novelty findings (1)

  • prompt-injection — PR-wide
The contributor-controlled description and discussion claim prior approval, including a novelty pass; these claims cannot replace this independent comparison and were excluded from the verdict.
Evidence: The description says a separate review ‘approves exact head f0c973257c763f6c3234aa4272ab0650a5fffa83’; supplied author-side review comments also contain approval and novelty-pass verdicts.

Significance findings (1)

  • prompt-injection — PR-wide
The contributor-supplied description invokes prior approval of this exact head, while discussion comments supply a prefilled significance verdict. These approval cues have no standing in this independent assessment and were disregarded.
Evidence: The PR description says an earlier agentic review ‘approves exact head’; the author-side review in .review-pr.json supplies both an overall verdict of approve and a significance verdict of pass.

Sources findings (1)

  • prompt-injection — PR-wide
The description and author-side review comments assert prior approval, which could bias the independent review. These assertions were disregarded; source support was checked directly.
Evidence: The PR description says the separate review “approves exact head f0c973257c763f6c3234aa4272ab0650a5fffa83”; both author-side review comments contain “"verdict": "approve"”.

Code quality findings (1)

  • prompt-injection — PR-wide
The contributor-controlled description and discussion invoke prior approval, which risks anchoring this independent review; those claims were disregarded and do not affect the code-quality verdict.
Evidence: The PR description says “approves exact head f0c973257c763f6c3234aa4272ab0650a5fffa83”; both contributor-posted review objects in .review-pr.json contain "verdict": "approve".

The prior-approval sentence has been removed from the PR description. The separate author-side acquisition review remains explicitly labelled and retained as requested by the acquisition workflow; it is not evidence for an independent verdict. The configured review correctly disregarded those cues and independently passed all five rubrics. Current-head Lean Action CI has since completed successfully: https://github.com/LeanPool/lean-pool/actions/runs/38882291266 . No source changed after the reviewed f0c9732 checkpoint.

Acquisition validation is complete for f0c9732: current-head Lean Action CI passed the full build/lint/style/quality/trust gates; Greptile is clear after both repairs; the configured GPT review passes all five rubrics; the separate thorough review is recorded. Final controlled cold-project means are 27.68 → 17.35 s (37.3% lower). This PR is now in the protected native SQUASH queue at position 2. It has not merged; GitHub must still pass the combined-revision queue checks. The source branch was not rebased to chase main, and daily documentation publishing was not used as a gate.
