Bugs: known bugs and other open problems #162

Living tracker of bugs. Report new ones as separate issues and I will link them here.

Known bugs

• Resizing is smoother since 0.1.0-alpha6 but not perfectly fluid: layout still keeps the UI thread busy during a drag
• Some toolbar glyphs have 1 px strokes that look soft
• Select-all on ~10k files is still slower than it should be (improved in Fix: Faster select-all on large folders #167; remaining cost is in Uno)

Needs investigation

• Debian + KDE ~2 s per action (Performance: Debian 13 KDE takes about 2 seconds per action #131): not reproducible in a Debian 13 container (about 200 ms per action). Waiting for a FILES_TRACE=1 log from the reporter
• Test host crash under parallel load: 1 of 4 simultaneous test runs died mid-run; 12/12 sequential runs clean
• Light-theme toolbar buttons faded when keyboard-focused: fix shipped in Fix: Light-theme toolbar focus and column header contrast #169 but the original problem could not be reproduced

• R2 archive confinement (Fix: Confine archive extraction and merge to the destination (R2) #177), R1 Open With shell expansion (Fix: Open With no longer expands filenames into shell code (R1) #176), R3/R8 trash (Fix: Empty Trash symlink and trash metadata hardening (R3, R8) #178), R4 cross-device move (Fix: Do not delete originals that changed during cross-device move (R4) #179, Fix: Never delete a move source that changed after it was copied #182), R5-R7/R9/R10 (Fix: Security P2/P3 hardening (R5-R7, R9, R10) #180). Fixed recently

• Text was greyscale-antialiased only: subpixel (LCD) text on opaque windows (Uno wayland.7, 0.1.0-alpha8)
• HTML/media previews were fallbacks only: real libmpv and sandboxed WebKitGTK previews on Wayland and X11 (Feature: Play media and render HTML in the preview pane on Wayland #198, 0.1.0-alpha8)
• X11: no drag icon outside the window, and drops from Wayland apps (e.g. Dolphin) into LinuxFiles on XWayland were lost (Feature: Prepare dragging files to other apps through Uno's X11 drag source #197 + Uno wayland.7, 0.1.0-alpha8)
• Cards layout rename editor showed a black box (Fix: Fixed an issue where renaming in the Cards layout showed a black box #193, 0.1.0-alpha7)
• No outgoing drag-and-drop to other apps on Wayland, and drops from other apps gave no paths (Feature: Drag files from LinuxFiles into other apps on Wayland #194 + Uno wayland.6, 0.1.0-alpha7)
• HTML/media previews and release notes blank on Wayland: fallbacks added (Fix: Fixed an issue where HTML and media previews were blank on Wayland #192, 0.1.0-alpha7)
• Blocky resizing on Wayland, light/low-res text and low-res file and folder icons at 100% scale (0.1.0-alpha6: Fix: Fixed an issue where file and folder icons looked low-res at 100% scale #189, Feature: Release 0.1.0-alpha6 with smoother Wayland resizing and sharper text and icons #190, Uno wayland.5)
• Fix: Pixelated text and glitching icons (top-left icon) #113 Blurry text and icons on XWayland: fixed by the native Wayland host, default since Feature: Use the native Wayland host by default on Linux #186 (released in 0.1.0-alpha5). When the app falls back to X11/XWayland, the old workaround still applies: Settings → Appearance → "Detect display scale from the compositor" or UNO_DISPLAY_SCALE_OVERRIDE=<factor>
• Wayland only worked through XWayland: native Wayland host by default since Feature: Use the native Wayland host by default on Linux #186 (released in 0.1.0-alpha5)
• Blank window on startup in main and nightly since the v4.3 sync (Fix: Fixed an issue where the window stayed blank on startup #183); alpha4 was not affected
• Tags lost on cross-device moves (Fix: Tags follow files on cross-device moves again #181)
• Spurious "Invalid item" dialog after restoring a session (Fix: Suppress spurious Invalid item dialog on restored sessions #165)
• Grid context menu smear, Properties without backdrop (Fix: Context menu acrylic smear and Properties dialog backdrop #170); long names wrapping in Details/Cards (Fix: Long file names end with an ellipsis in Details #171); weak column header contrast (Fix: Light-theme toolbar focus and column header contrast #169)
• Context menu blocking the UI thread, tags lost on read-only files (alpha4)
