Bridges the vario (climb rate) from the Condor soaring simulator to a buttplug.io device.
It reads FreeVario-style NMEA sentences from a serial port, picks out
$PFV,VAR,<climb in m/s>, and drives one or more toys through a Buttplug
server (Intiface Central):
- Climbing – strong pulsing that gets faster and harder the stronger the lift, emulating the beeping of an audio vario.
- Sinking – a light, constant vibration that grows a little with the sink rate.
- Around zero – off.
Everything is tunable from the command line (--help).
Install Intiface Central, start the server
(default websocket ws://127.0.0.1:12345), and make sure your toy is paired.
$PFV,VAR is a FreeVario
sentence.
- Condor: Options → Settings → NMEA output – enable it, choosing a serial port (or a UDP target if you route it through something else).
- Create a virtual null-modem pair (e.g. com0com
on Windows,
socaton Linux). Condor writes one end, arschvarioreads the other. If you already have a tool that emits$PFV,VARdirectly, just pointarschvarioat that port.
# real setup
arschvario --serial-port COM7
# try it without Condor first (synthetic climb/sink waveform)
arschvario --simulate -vUseful flags:
| flag | meaning | default |
|---|---|---|
-p, --serial-port |
port to read NMEA from | – |
-b, --baud |
serial baud | 115200 |
-s, --server |
Buttplug websocket URL | ws://127.0.0.1:12345 |
-d, --device-index |
drive only this device | all vibrating devices |
--invert |
flip climb/sink if they feel swapped | off |
--max-intensity |
hard ceiling on vibration (0–1) | 1.0 |
--climb-ref |
climb rate (m/s) that maxes out the pulsing | 3.0 |
--pulse-hz-min / --pulse-hz-max |
pulse rate range while climbing | 1.5 / 8.0 |
--sink-amp-min / --sink-amp-max |
constant vibration range while sinking | 0.12 / 0.30 |
--data-timeout |
stop the toy after this many seconds of silence | 3.0 |
-v / -vv |
debug / trace logging | – |
Ctrl-C stops all devices and disconnects. If the serial port or the Buttplug
server drops, arschvario keeps retrying.
