  Font providers can now expose the weights, styles, subsets and formats a font family actually has. Astro uses it when resolving your font configuration to warn about values a provider cannot serve, for example a weight a font family does not offer.

  All built-in providers implement it. If you maintain a custom font provider, implementing this callback is optional for now but it will be required in Astro 8:

Register font subsets with unicodeRange

A font now takes unicodeRange, the codepoint ranges its @font-face declares. It serves only those codepoints, as in Chrome, so each subset of a family registers under the same name:

googleFonts returns its subsets this way. subsetOf and subsetRank are deprecated: subsetOf now only sets the family name, and subsetRank does nothing. In Rust, use FontResource::unicode_range.

Turn off contextual alternates under letter spacing

Non-zero letter-spacing now also turns off contextual alternates (calt), as Chrome does. font-variant-ligatures can no longer turn ligatures back on while letters are spaced. font-feature-settings still overrides both.
