   Implemented locally on branch codex/issue-8-gateway-client-adapters and fast-forward merged into local dev at commit 400d19b.

   Scope:

   • Added src-tauri/src/gateway/client_adapters.rs.
   • Moved client id normalization, adapter kind registry, list/preview/apply/restore dispatch, and write lock into the adapter module.
   • Split concrete adapter behavior inside the module into opencode, pi, omp, zcode, and copy_only submodules.
   • Kept public Gateway functions in gateway.rs as delegation wrappers and preserved config generation/backup helpers.

   Verification:

   • cargo test gateway_client ✅ 5 passed
   • cargo test ✅ 192 passed
   • cargo clippy --all-targets -- -D warnings ✅

   pm run build ✅

   Leaving this issue open until the local dev changes are pushed and merged through the agreed flow.

   Wayfinder baseline correction

   The earlier local-completion comment does not describe the current dev baseline used by the replanned Wayfinder:

   • commit 400d19bb is not an ancestor of current dev;
   • src-tauri/src/gateway/client_adapters.rs is absent from the current tree.

   #8 therefore remains open and is scheduled under 0.1.9 — Managed client reliability. This comment does not claim the orphaned implementation is reusable; a future Worker must compare it against current code before choosing reimplementation or recovery.

    #434 closed (Pi adapter + dedicated CodexAdapter; live Codex overlay stays config_overlay.py per ADR-0004 bucket exception). #435 still open: opencode/omp/zcode adapters are registered; Yoga CLI-only OpenCode Go 8/8 is on SHA 4994055896e4341ce82c4699c58beb06f4f6042c. Umbrella stays open until #435 closes.

    Closing the adapter-seam umbrella.

    Children: #434 closed (Pi + dedicated CodexAdapter; live Codex overlay remains config_overlay.py per ADR-0004 bucket exception). #435 closed (opencode/omp/zcode adapters + Yoga CLI-only 8/8). Coordinator owns gates/locks/backups/publish/readback; adapters plan. ADR-0004 campaign-status note and ADR-0010 desktop-command seam are in tree.
