On Linux the extension requires KSP.x86_64, so when the game is set to run through Proton (Steam then installs the Windows build, with KSP_x64.exe and no KSP.x86_64) it isn't discovered.
On Linux the executable is now picked from what's installed: KSP_x64.exe if the Windows build is there, KSP.x86_64 otherwise. The required file is GameData/Squad, which both builds have.
Checked with the Steam install switched to Proton: not discovered before, discovered with KSP_x64.exe after. The native case still resolves to KSP.x86_64.
