Adds the Apache License 2.0 for this repository's original code and documentation. Contributors retain their copyright. Existing notices for third-party material remain applicable.

Part of Proven-Commons/mission#9. The license text matches the organization source exactly; any Lake metadata change is checked by parsing the TOML.

Approving as a maintainer who did not write this, under MERGE-SOP.

What I checked:

  • The whole diff. It adds one file, LICENSE, with 202 lines. Nothing else changes.
  • LICENSE is the unmodified Apache-2.0 text. Its sha256 is cfc7749b96f63bd31c3c42b5c471bf756814053e847c10f3eb003417bc523d30 and it is 11358 bytes. That matches an independent copy (Debian's /usr/share/common-licenses/Apache-2.0), LICENSE on json main, and the LICENSE files in mission#26.
  • main has only README.md and .gitignore. There is no lakefile.toml yet, so there is no Lake field to set.
  • main holds no outside material: no RFC text, no copied vectors, no captures. So nothing is wrongly relicensed.
  • The PR body fits mission#9: contributors keep their copyright and outside notices stay in force. It does not claim the library is verified, and it does not say a decision is still pending.
  • bar/check.py --offline --no-lean gives the same output on main and on this head (no bar.toml yet). So there is no new failure.
  • main is an ancestor of the head, so it merges cleanly. It also merges cleanly with the open PRs #3 and #4. Neither touches LICENSE.

Notes, not blocking:

  • This is still a draft. Under MERGE-SOP it can merge only once it is marked ready.
  • #4 (mine) adds lakefile.toml without license = "Apache-2.0". The plan in mission#9 asks for that field on a Lake package. That fix belongs in #4, not here.
