Every MPRIS instance of a browser was one app, so a web app or a second Firefox profile could not be picked or controlled on its own. An instance whose process was launched with its own window class or profile (
--class,--name,--profile/-P,--user-data-dir) is now an app of its own,<app>@<variant>, which stays the same across restarts unlike the instance id. The arguments are read once from the bus owner's/proc/<pid>/cmdline, and a web app with a.desktopfile of that class (Linux Mint's Web Apps, Ice) takes its name and icon from it.A plain launch gets no variant, so existing app ids and widgets don't change. A sandboxed player, an unreadable process, or a variant that is oversized or unprintable falls back to the merged app.
