I love this type of post: taking a developer's existing experience into account when teaching them a new tech. So helpful to get over those "close but not exactly" mismatches that needlessly hamper learning in the early days. Also great for "if you understand x in Ruby, then this will be easy for you" moments.

Ruby Weekly is a must read for Ruby developers. I have been a long-time subscriber to the newsletter and although I can't read everything every time, it's packed with great resources to level-up your skills. And I'm not just saying that because my post was included.

Great stuff, @DeLongShot. Definitely one of those situations where I've been mildly interested in Swift, but not enough so to compel me to dig in. Along with what @billgathen said, this eliminates a lot of the "mapping of concepts", which a lot of times is the biggest barrier to learning a new tech.

Looking forward to the rest of the series, and yes, Ruby Weekly is great!

Just a side note (not intended to nitpick): in the Ruby example of iteration you use println in the example. Also toward the top: "...In first two ways, you must declare..." I believe could use a "the" between "In" and "first". Just wanted to pass those along since I'm sure this will be getting a lot of attention. :) Thanks again for giving back what you've been learning!
