feat: "Router Reboot Reminder" — gentle nudge when quality degrades over days #52

Description

@ajithakdev

Summary

Track connection quality trends and suggest a router reboot when performance has been gradually degrading over several days.

The insight

Most non-technical users don't know that simply restarting their router can fix 70%+ of connection issues. Routers accumulate memory leaks, stale DNS caches, and connection table overflow over weeks of uptime.

How it works

  1. Analyze last 7 days of test history
  2. Detect if quality has been trending downward (e.g., health score dropped 15+ points)
  3. Show gentle suggestion:
💡 Your WiFi quality has been declining for 5 days.
A simple router reboot often fixes this!

How: Unplug your router → wait 30 seconds → plug back in

[Remind me later] [I did it — retest!]
  1. If user clicks "I did it — retest!", run a new test and show before/after comparison
  2. "Latency improved from 85ms to 14ms! 🎉 Router reboot worked!"

Why

  • Incredibly practical for non-technical users
  • Teaches good habits (regular router maintenance)
  • Shows MeterX genuinely helps, not just measures
  • No other speed test extension does this
  • Before/after comparison makes the value immediately visible

Implementation

  • Analyze history trend in analytics.ts
  • Show suggestion as a dismissible banner in popup
  • Store last reboot reminder timestamp to avoid nagging
  • Track pre/post reboot metrics for comparison
