I'm Simon, a Norwegian student, triathlete, and aspiring mechatronics & aerospace engineer.
I build software, AI systems, engineering tools, and experimental hardware β mostly as part of Draconis Engineering, my growing engineering and software ecosystem.
My goal is simple: learn by building real things.
Iβm especially interested in the intersection of software, AI, robotics, high-performance computing, and physical engineering.
Draconis Engineering is an independent engineering and software ecosystem built around the idea that ambitious projects become more powerful when their tools, infrastructure, and ideas are connected.
Some of the projects I'm currently developing:
My flagship project.
A high-performance training and analytics ecosystem for triathlon and endurance sports.
Currently focused on Olympus Terminal, a Rust-based TUI cycling trainer, with an analytics engine and additional training tools planned.
Olympus is also becoming one of the first major applications built on top of Draconis' numerical infrastructure.
The numerical backbone of Draconis.
A high-performance computing and numerical mathematics platform designed to provide the computational foundation for Draconis' engineering and scientific software.
The current direction is a C++ core with interfaces for languages such as Python, Julia, and Rust, alongside lower-level HPC and accelerator technologies.
The Draconis Engineering Python Collection.
A growing collection of Python tools and libraries for mathematics, physics, robotics, engineering, and scientific computing.
Designed to make Draconis' lower-level systems accessible from Python.
Economic simulation & modelling.
A planned simulation platform for economics, finance, and complex systems, powered by Draconis' numerical infrastructure.
Engineering & physics simulation.
A planned simulation platform exploring areas such as computational fluid dynamics, plasma physics, energy systems, and other computational engineering problems.
DevOps & CI/CD Utilities
A simple, lightweight, but also powerful CLI utility that serves to make CI/CD easier via Git streamlining, project templates, and more.
I'm deliberately exploring several engineering disciplines before deciding where I want to specialize.
- Software: Python, Rust, C, C++, Go, Shell
- HPC & Scientific Computing: C++, Fortran, Julia, numerical methods
- AI & ML: LLMs, neural networks, inference, optimization, AI systems
- Robotics: embedded systems, control theory, ROS, mechatronics
- Engineering: mechanical, aerospace, electrical & electronics engineering
- Digital Fabrication: CAD, 3D printing, PCB design, KiCad & FreeCAD
- Systems: Linux, low-level programming, performance engineering
I'm particularly interested in understanding systems from the lowest level to the highest level β from hardware and numerical computation all the way to the software people actually use.
I've always been fascinated by intelligent machines, aerospace technology, and ambitious engineering projects.
Instead of waiting until university to start learning, I use personal projects as laboratories.
I build something β encounter a problem β learn what I need β rebuild it better.
Some projects fail. Some get abandoned. Others turn into something much bigger than I originally expected.
That's part of the process.
Every project is another step toward becoming the engineer I want to be.
Right now, my main priority is finishing Olympus.
I'm trying to resist the temptation to start another project every time I discover a new technology β and instead turn the ideas I already have into working systems.
Once Olympus is in a solid state, I'll continue expanding the underlying Draconis ecosystem.
I'm always interested in meeting people who enjoy building difficult things.
Especially interested in:
- Open-source engineering
- Scientific computing & HPC
- AI/ML
- Robotics & embedded systems
- Developer tools
- Aerospace & mechatronics
- Endurance sports technology
If you're building something interesting, feel free to reach out.
