5.0.68

Patch Changes

  • e729d58: chore(docs): update README.md for consistent format and to avoid duplication
  • Updated dependencies [5475347]
  • Updated dependencies [e729d58]
    • @ai-sdk/provider@4.0.34

5.0.67

Patch Changes

  • 8202f5b: feat(gateway): implement experimental streaming speech in the gateway provider

    GatewaySpeechModel implements Experimental_StreamingSpeechModelV4 and streams speech over the AI Gateway speech WebSocket (/speech-model, ai-gateway-speech.v1 subprotocol). @ai-sdk/provider-utils adds the experimental speech-stream envelope (experimental_parseSpeechStreamClientFrame, experimental_serializeSpeechStreamPart, experimental_parseSpeechStreamPart) shared by clients and servers, plus the EXPERIMENTAL_SPEECH_STREAM_* frame type constants and Experimental_SpeechStream* frame types. Text-delta frames carry each text part's voice and providerOptions; the start frame carries outputFormat as an audio format object. Adds gateway.experimental_speech, callable like speech(modelId), with a server-side getToken() that mints a speech-bound short-lived client secret for browser use.

Patch Changes

  • b089ce8: Block .internal hostnames in download URL validation.
  • 39a776b: Add a shared encodePathSegment helper and use it to encode provider-returned identifiers in credentialed follow-up request paths.

5.0.64

Patch Changes

  • 0c2a9de: Add maxOutputTokens and reasoning to experimental decision calls and forward them to language-model-backed decisions. Language-model adapters keep reasoning disabled when omitted. Native decision providers warn when either setting is unsupported.
  • 200c47f: Avoid retaining oversized backing buffers when reading response bodies, reducing memory usage for responses delivered in small chunks on runtimes such as Deno.

New features

  • BottomSheetSwitcher now gives every step its own native <dialog> while preserving one scrim, focus containment, scroll locking, Escape handling, and focus return. The public props and defaults are unchanged. Its forwarded ref now follows the dialog that hosts the active step. (#7720)

Fixes

  • Busy controls now announce “Loading” once through the shared polite announcement channel instead of competing with a second live Spinner. This covers TextInput, TextArea, Selector, MultiSelector, CheckboxInput, CommandPalette, DateInput, DateRangeInput, DateTimeInput, TimeInput, FileInput, DropdownMenuSubMenu, Thumbnail, ChatMessageList, ComplexSelector, Typeahead, Tokenizer, and BaseTypeahead. Announcements made inside an open modal stay inside that modal. (#7920, #7930, #7939, #7942, #7948, #7950, #7954, #7956)

  • ChatComposerInput announces a trigger menu’s visible loading state once, while cached results that arrive before the loading row appears stay silent. (#7900)

  • When a focused Carousel arrow reaches the end and becomes unavailable, focus moves to the scroll area without undoing the scroll. (#7926)

  • CommandPaletteItem exposes highlighted, selected, and disabled states on its theme target:

    .astryx-command-palette-item[data-highlighted] { /* … */ }
    .astryx-command-palette-item[data-selected] { /* … */ }
    .astryx-command-palette-item[data-disabled] { /* … */ }

    Rendering, semantics, and props are unchanged. (#7967)

  • A busy DateInput keeps its ordinary appearance and shows its Spinner; only a disabled field is dimmed. (#7968)

  • Selector, DropdownMenu, and ContextMenu options inside open, closed, or nested shadow roots now commit when clicked. (#7914)

  • useTypeahead clears its pending type buffer when its component unmounts or becomes hidden, leaving no timer behind and restoring with an empty buffer. (#7938)

Documentation

  • BottomSheetSwitcher anatomy now describes the per-step dialog structure. (#7720)

Experimental icon sets

Integrations can ship an icon set, projects can select one, agents can find icons by meaning, and copied templates can replace declared icons with the selected set. The feature is isolated under astryx experimental and does not change stable search results or template output unless a project opts in with experimental.iconSet. (#7759)

0.7.4

Experimental APIs

  • Icon sets: an integration can ship an icon set, agents find icons by meaning and get the exact import line, and copied templates use the project's icons. Everything here is experimental and may change or be removed in a patch release; a project that does not set experimental.iconSet sees no change in any stable command, apart from: the marked experimental group in help and in astryx manifest (its command, and its responseTypes and jsonSupported entries); the marked experimental entries in the astryx docs cli listings; and a search for "experimental", which also finds the new stable stability field of the field reference. astryx search returns no icon and no experimental doc. With a package that ships icon sets installed and no opt-in, the warnings an older CLI gives about the manifest key experimental (in astryx doctor and astryx doctor integration validate <package>, and the one-line nudge other commands print to stderr) are gone, and doctor integration checks that package's icon sets only in a project that sets experimental.iconSet; and astryx integration check reports icon-set findings for a package that declares experimental.iconSets (below). (#7759)

New Features

  • Keep Butter's released butterPalettes object byte-identical while moving the maintained Light/Dark theme to reviewed named palette stops. Signature Blue #225BFF, Butter Yellow #FDEE8C, and warm body surfaces remain exact; status fills move from success #91D143 to #7BBF7A, warning #FFC502 to #DFCF5B, error #FC473B to #E56241, and info #4883FD to #4D82FF. Info and error content changes from white to warm Neutral #1D1C11, the neutral Badge uses Blue #194CE8, and light TopNav items use Blue #225BFF / #194CE8; these palette-first pairs clear normal-text AA. Consumers that need the former appearance can extend butterTheme and override the affected color, syntax, shadow, and component values with their previous values. The CLI template ships the same private palette request, receipt, and runtime-sized references. (#7672)
  • Docs can mark an experimental surface: every doc type except ThemeDoc and IconSetDoc, and every schema field and enum value, accepts stability: 'experimental'. A marked command shows [experimental] in help, a marked schema field or enum value is left out of its stable table so its feature's own docs describe it, and astryx search leaves out a marked doc, which is read on its own route. For the package being authored, doctor integration validate (and so integration check) adds olderCliNotes, each {file, kind, field, message}: a template or namespace doc that sets stability, or a template that declares icons, while the package's CLI peer range admits a release before 0.7.4, which drops that descriptor. A note is never an error or a warning and never fails a check, under --strict or --next; text output prints "Notes for older CLIs". Docs and findings that use none of these read exactly as before. (#7759)
  • Docs can write commands so every reader sees their own: {@command docs theme} for an Astryx command, {@pm install @acme/widgets --dev} for a package-manager step, and {@pm-only npm "<reason>" pkg set name=x} for a step only one package manager can do. The CLI shows each one with the reader's runner and package manager (npm, pnpm, Yarn 1, Yarn 2 and newer, or Bun), and {@@…} shows a token as written. astryx docs authoring/building-blocks/docs/doc-syntax documents them. doctor integration validate lists each command a topic writes for one package manager (package_manager_command), bare (plain_command) or with a runner (runner_command), and each token that does not parse (doc_token), each with the token to write. (#7868) integration check --next counts the findings the next minor release turns into warnings, the notes marked next, as warnings now, so --strict --next fails on them. Every run says how many there are. Without --next, integration check --strict exits as before.
  • An integration's doc can now replace or extend one of the CLI's guides by its route, such as replaces: 'authoring/quick-start' or extends: 'authoring/quick-start', so a package changes the guide agents already read for every app that installs it. An extension's section can set before or after to a section's key to go there instead of at the end; an older CLI rejects those fields, so integration verify warns when the package's @astryxdesign/cli peer range admits one. Every read names the replacing or extending package: package on the guide and on each section, and a replaced topic or guide now also carries replacedPackage beside replaces (in docs, docs --index, the topic list, and a namespace's children), with a replaces <package>'s <topic> line in text. A name that holds no topic or guide (such as a namespace) changes nothing, and a before or after key that names no section adds the section at the end: integration validate lists each as a note (doc_target_not_found, doc_section_unplaced), and two docs of one package that replace one guide as duplicate_guide_replacement; none fails anything until the next minor release. (#7936)
  • astryx doctor --built <path> checks a finished build before you deliver it: a project folder, a build output folder, or one built HTML file. built-astryx-usage fails when the path holds no import from an Astryx package (any @astryxdesign/* package, or an integration the project installs: a declared dependency whose installed copy has an integration manifest), no component imported from one, and no Astryx styles in built CSS or HTML, and names the template-first way to rebuild it. built-astryx-purity warns with the source check of astryx docs is-my-code-good: raw elements Astryx has a component for, raw SVG and icon-library icons, inline styles, classes, stylex.create and imported stylesheets, each with its file and line, or says the source was not inspected when the path holds no source with JSX, such as a bundle. The files under the path and that package.json are only read; nothing in them runs. Without --built, astryx doctor runs exactly as before. (#7886)
  • Keep Gothic's released flat gothicPalettes compatibility export unchanged while moving the maintained dark theme to a reproducible generated palette and named stop mappings. The card changes from #1A1D20 to #191D20; Gray background and border from #3D4248 / #5D646B to #3E454B / #5E676E; syntax comment and punctuation from #6B7079 / #7A8290 to #7E8791 / #7E8791; and diff backgrounds from [#081408](https://github.com/facebook/astryx/tree/HEAD/packages/cli/issues/081408) / #1E0A0A to [#071607](https://github.com/facebook/astryx/tree/HEAD/packages/cli/issues/071607) / [#220806](https://github.com/facebook/astryx/tree/HEAD/packages/cli/issues/220806). Success, warning, and error inset rings move from #87B06A50 / #D6B56A50 / #D4485150 to #869B7250 / #D3C49050 / #C6A6A250. Yellow text moves from #6C5010 to #573F0B, and Pink text from #71223C to #5C182F; both darker named stops clear 4.5:1 on their categorical surfaces. Consumers that need the former appearance can extend gothicTheme and override these color, syntax, shadow, and component tokens with their previous values. The CLI template ships the same request, receipt, and runtime-sized references. (#7670)
  • doctor integration validate, and so integration check, lists what a package's examples need to work everywhere they are shown, as notes for the next minor release (integration check --strict --next fails on them now): (#7891)
  • Move Matcha's existing color roles onto its reviewed light and dark ramps, including Tea Gold. Warning and Yellow move from #FFB600 / #FFC940 to #F2C000 / #F6D066; related syntax colors and warning inset rings follow the same palette. Consumers that need the former appearance can extend matchaTheme and override the affected color, syntax, shadow, and component tokens with their previous values. The complete Matcha palette remains private authoring data, and the CLI template ships the same request, receipt, and runtime-sized references. (#7671)
  • astryx theme palette generate receipts now name the generator implementation (generatorVersion: 'palette-generator-v1') and the format of the candidate bytes they hash (candidateFormatVersion: 'palette-typescript-v1' for a .ts output, 'palette-json-v1' for a .json output or a printed candidate). candidateSha256 and every other receipt field keep their meaning, values, and order, so existing readers keep working. (#7678)
  • Replace Stone's internal shared-ramp mapping with reviewed light and dark ramps while preserving the public numbered palette lookups and hue/chroma metadata. The light canvas moves from #F3F3F5 to #F0F0F7, the dark popover from #25252A to #302F36, and Green, Yellow, Teal, and Cyan use re-seeded midtones (including Green #667D65 to #528B49). Seven families' light stop-90 surfaces, syntax colors, and input status rims shift; the mapped success and warning rims use [#609757](https://github.com/facebook/astryx/tree/HEAD/packages/cli/issues/609757) and #A08C36, and syntax attribute uses [#736419](https://github.com/facebook/astryx/tree/HEAD/packages/cli/issues/736419), keeping the required contrast floors. Existing apps can keep the former appearance by extending stoneTheme and overriding the affected color, syntax, shadow, and component tokens with their previous values. The CLI template ships the same reproducible request, receipt, and runtime-sized references. (#7669)
  • When the project's installed CLI (its own, or its workspace's) has astryx doctor --built (0.7.4 and later), the agent docs astryx init writes tell agents to run it before they deliver a build, and not to deliver a build that fails it. Before install, or on an older CLI, the line is left out; the next init or upgrade --apply adds it. (#7944)
  • Keep Y2K's released y2kPalettes object byte-identical while moving the maintained Light/Dark theme to reviewed named palette stops. Periwinkle #CCCFFA and Neon Green #C5E17A remain exact; syntax becomes brighter, the dark code background moves from #190F00 to #0E0F1A, and dark Gray background moves from #EDE0D4 to #DFE2F3. The necessary dark input and unchecked-selection outline moves from the released #3A3F5E to Neutral Dark 45 [#636889](https://github.com/facebook/astryx/tree/HEAD/packages/cli/issues/636889), raising contrast on the input surface from 1.71:1 to 3.23:1. Consumers that need the former appearance can extend y2kTheme and override the affected color, syntax, shadow, and component values with their previous values. The CLI template ships the same private palette request, receipt, and runtime-sized references. (#7675)

Fixes

  • astryx doctor --built no longer counts a type-only Astryx import (import type, import {type X}, export type … from) as Astryx use, since the build erases it. (#7945)

  • Discover results name their source package and tolerate typos. (#7147) Every discover JSON result now names its package per the provenance rule: single-artifact responses (discover.detail, discover.detail.doc, discover.item) carry package in the envelope, and list entries (discover.list, and each entry of its meta.available) carry package. Text output matches: an opened doc prints its package: line on stdout.

    discover <words> now has the same typo tolerance as search: a near-miss name (edit distance 1–3, with minimum-length guards) returns results instead of "not found". Previously discover Geodetics said "not found" while search Geodetics found geodesic.

  • astryx search finds a family member by its name spelled out, as its own description spells it ("vertical stack" is VStack), and lists a member named by its head word after single letters (VStack, HStack) for that word ("stack"). (#7927)

  • astryx search lists the first three members a family's doc names for a query that is the family's name ("table" lists three Table parts after Table; "chat" lists Chat parts though no Chat component exists), for Core and integration families alike. (#7955)

  • astryx search orders results the matcher scored the same by fit instead of by name: below the first result, a part of it leads (BadgeCountBadges after Badge), then the result matching the query's rarer words. Scores and the first result are unchanged. (#7959)

  • astryx integration verify works on npm 8 for a scoped package: npm 8 names the tarball @scope/name-1.0.0.tgz in its pack output but writes scope-name-1.0.0.tgz, so verify reads the file npm wrote instead of failing to find it. (#7933)

Documentation

  • Four block templates (MetadataListItemBasic, SegmentedControlItemBasic, VisuallyHiddenSupplementaryContext, ItemWithMetadata) now describe what each one shows and when to use it, written from what the block renders. (#7963)
  • The BottomSheetSwitcher template docs (BottomSheetSwitcherShowcase, BottomSheetSwitcherReviewFlow) describe each step as its own native dialog under one scrim, as the component now renders, instead of "one shared dialog". (#7720)
  • The CommandPaletteItem showcase block now describes what it renders, an inline command palette whose items pair each label with its keyboard shortcut, and lists only the components it uses. (#7967)
  • Discover data: list the Lab ListInput blocks (the Tag options showcase and the Mailing list, Budget allocation, and Family member declaration examples) as templates. (#7953)
  • Six guide titles read more plainly and use the same sentence case as the rest: Theme System is now Theming, Styling Components is Styling components, Browser Support is Browser support, Migration Guide is Migration, Styling Library Interop is Other styling libraries, and Looking up components is Component lookups. Only the titles changed: every route still opens the same doc (astryx docs theme, astryx docs styling-libraries, astryx docs cli/component-lookups), and searching by an old title still finds it. (#7934)

Other Changes

  • Commands. The new astryx experimental group holds experimental commands; icon sets are its first. astryx experimental icon <words> ranks icons across the installed sets (icon.search), <set>/<id> reads one icon with every variant's import line (icon.detail), and --list lists each set with its definition coverage (icon.list). Authoring: experimental icon new-set <name> starts a set (--from <module> wraps every icon a library exports, --exclude drops exports that are not icons), experimental icon new-definition <name> adds a set's own icon definition, experimental icon add <Export> --from <module> verifies an export and lists the definitions that fit it or adds and maps it (--variant <name> adds it as a variant the set declares, a named look such as solid; size comes from CSS), experimental icon map <definition> <icon> edits one map entry, and experimental icon use <set> picks the project's set. The API gains icon, iconAdd, iconMap, iconUse, iconNewSet, and iconNewDefinition, all marked @experimental.
  • Configuration. The project's set is experimental.iconSet in astryx.config; an integration declares its sets folder as experimental.iconSets in its manifest. Each set has a typed <name>.doc.mjs (IconSetDoc), a <name>.icons.json data file, and an optional definitions/ folder; @astryxdesign/cli/authoring exports IconSetDoc, IconSetData, IconDefinitionDoc, and their parsers. An older CLI warns that experimental is a manifest key it does not know, and a CLI before 0.7.4 refuses an astryx.config that sets experimental.iconSet ("Unrecognized key"), so commands that load the project configuration, such as doctor and discover, fail in that project; astryx experimental icon use says so in its receipt (warning) when the project's @astryxdesign/cli range admits such a release.
  • Where icon sets show up. Icon lookup by meaning is only astryx experimental icon: astryx search never returns icons or experimental docs, with or without a set. A project that sets experimental.iconSet also gets astryx template replacing each icon a template declares in its new icons field (a named import by the name it imports, a default import by its local name) with that set's icon, every key reported as mapped or kept in an icons receipt field, astryx discover reading icon-set as a kind (--type icon-set, and catalog entries of that kind), and an icon-sets check in astryx doctor. Without it, none of these change: templates are copied as they are, --type icon-set is an unknown type and catalog icon-set entries are ignored, and Doctor reports nothing about icon sets, even an invalid one. astryx integration check reports icon-set findings for a package that declares experimental.iconSets, and lists, in the validate result's additive iconSets field, the optional Astryx definitions each set leaves unmapped, with the icons that fit, and what it cannot judge (unchecked: an icon whose module is an exports target not built yet, an icon or adapter export it cannot prove either way, such as one behind a re-export it cannot follow or bound to a default import, and a theme map or entry it cannot read; only an export it proves absent fails), printed under "Not checked"; neither list is ever counted or fails a check, even under --strict or --next. It also notes each template icons key the template's source never imports (template_icon_not_imported), which fails nothing, under --next too.
  • Docs. The guide and every icon definition live under astryx docs cli/experimental, and every icon-set doc is marked stability: 'experimental'. The experimental icon-definitions namespace adopts definition docs from every package (source.packages: 'all', read only on a CLI namespace marked experimental).
  • component_without_example: a published component that no block template shows with exampleFor: '<Name>' and isShowcase: true (or alsoShowcaseFor). A block named like a showcase that sets neither does not count. Hidden docs, family members, docs with isHiddenFromOverview and Utility components are exempt. The note carries a template doc to paste.

  • When a focused Carousel arrow reaches the end and becomes unavailable, focus moves to the scroll area without undoing the scroll. (#7926)

  • CommandPaletteItem exposes highlighted, selected, and disabled states on its theme target:

    .astryx-command-palette-item[data-highlighted] { /* … */ }
    .astryx-command-palette-item[data-selected] { /* … */ }
    .astryx-command-palette-item[data-disabled] { /* … */ }

0.7.4

New Features

  • BottomSheetSwitcher presents each step in its own native <dialog>. Every child BottomSheet owns a dialog exactly like a standalone sheet; the switcher presents the selected sheet's dialog (showModal() with a scrim, show() without), keeps the previous sheet's dialog open and inert beneath the entering one through the handoff, and closes it once its panel has faded. One backdrop paints at a time: the retained dialog keeps the scrim until it closes, then the new dialog takes it over without a fade, so the page is never dimmed twice and the previous panel is never dimmed. Focus containment is the browser's own modal-dialog containment (as for Dialog) instead of a script trap; the page scroll lock (the shared body lock, held once by the switcher for the whole modal flow, through a handoff and until after the exit), Escape and platform-close routing, purpose dismissal rules, and focus return to the opener are unchanged. Going back to a sheet whose dialog is still fading closes and re-presents that dialog so the interactive sheet is the topmost layer again. (#7720) Public props, defaults, and exports are unchanged. Two observable details move with the structure: The switcher's ref resolves to the dialog hosting the flow — the active sheet's dialog, which changes on a handoff; the exiting sheet's through its exit; and, while the flow is closed, the dialog that hosted it last (or the first mounted sheet's) — instead of one persistent element; it is never null while a sheet is mounted, from the first commit on, and a callback ref's returned cleanup runs on each detach. onCancel and the forwarded dialog props apply to each sheet's dialog (a role given to the switcher included, except on a required step, which is an alertdialog as before), except id and data-testid, which render once, on the dialog the ref resolves to, from the first commit's synchronous re-render on; server markup of a flow that mounts closed carries them on no element (the shared dialog carried them). A non-modal flow orders its sheet dialogs inside a switcher-owned isolated wrapper that carries the one overlay value the shared dialog carried before.

Fixes

  • TextInput, TextArea, Selector and MultiSelector announce "Loading" once, politely, through the shared announcement channel when they become busy, and the Spinner they show while busy is hidden from assistive technology. Before, the Spinner mounted as its own role="status" region already holding its name, which screen readers often skip, and it competed with the control's own aria-busy as a second owner of the same feedback. A rerender or StrictMode replay does not repeat the announcement; settling and becoming busy again announces again. Tests that found the busy Spinner with getByRole('status', {name: 'Loading'}) should check the control's aria-busy instead. (#7920)
  • Carousel: when the focused edge scroll button runs out (the carousel reached that edge), focus now moves to the scroll area without scrolling it, instead of to the opposite scroll button. No API changes. (#7926)
  • CheckboxInput announces its busy start ("Loading") once, politely, through the shared announcement channel. The Spinner it shows in place of the check mark while busy sits inside the decorative, hidden indicator, so before this nothing told screen-reader users that the checkbox had become busy beyond its aria-busy. Inside an open modal dialog the announcement goes to a status region in the dialog. (#7948)
  • CommandPaletteItem now reflects its highlighted, selected, and disabled states on the command-palette-item theme target as data-highlighted="highlighted", data-selected="selected", and data-disabled="disabled". A theme can now style the active keyboard result, the chosen value, or an unavailable command, for example .astryx-command-palette-item[data-selected]. States derived from CommandPalette are reflected too. Rendering, semantics, and props are unchanged. (#7967)
  • CommandPalette announces each busy start ("Loading"), including its load on opening or clearing the query, once from a status region inside its dialog, and its search Spinner is hidden from assistive technology. Before, the Spinner mounted as its own role="status" region already named "Loading", and the palette's own "Loading" went to the page-level announcement channel, which an open native modal hides from assistive technology. Result-count announcements are unchanged. Tests that found the Spinner with getByRole('status') should query the Spinner element instead. (#7956)
  • A busy DateInput (isLoading, or a pending changeAction) no longer looks disabled. On the popover, native, and bottom-sheet surfaces the field keeps its ordinary paint and shows its Spinner while new commits are blocked; only isDisabled dims the field. The busy field still takes no hover ring and keeps its keyboard focus ring. Props, semantics, and announcements are unchanged. (#7968)
  • DateInput (popover, native and bottom-sheet presentations) and DateRangeInput announce their busy start ("Loading") once, politely, through the shared announcement channel, and the Spinner they show while busy is hidden from assistive technology. Before, that Spinner mounted as its own role="status" region already named "Loading", which screen readers often skip, and it was a second owner beside the field's aria-busy. Inside an open modal dialog the announcement goes to a status region in the dialog. Tests that found the busy Spinner with getByRole('status', {name: 'Loading'}) should check the field's aria-busy instead. (#7939)
  • DateTimeInput and TimeInput (popover, native and bottom-sheet presentations) announce their busy start ("Loading") once, politely, through the shared announcement channel, and the Spinner they show while busy is hidden from assistive technology. Before, that Spinner mounted as its own role="status" region already named "Loading", which screen readers often skip, and it was a second owner beside the field's aria-busy. A change made inside the open bottom sheet under a pending changeAction is announced from inside the sheet. Tests that found the busy Spinner with getByRole('status', {name: 'Loading'}) should check the field's aria-busy instead. (#7942)
  • FileInput announces its busy start ("Loading") once, politely, through the shared announcement channel, and the Spinner it shows while busy is hidden from assistive technology. Before, that Spinner mounted as its own role="status" region already named "Loading", which screen readers often skip. A file pick keeps its single "file selected" announcement, because it is one user action, even when it starts a busy period (changeAction, or isLoading set from onChange). Other busy starts, such as isLoading on its own or a clear under changeAction, announce "Loading". Inside an open modal dialog the announcement goes to a status region in the dialog. Tests that found the busy Spinner with getByRole('status', {name: 'Loading'}) should check the field's aria-busy instead. (#7954)
  • Selector, DropdownMenu and ContextMenu: clicking an option inside a shadow root (open, closed or nested) selects it. The menus used to read the document's view of the click, which names the shadow host, so the click closed the menu without selecting anything. (#7914)
  • DropdownMenuSubMenu (with hasSpinner), an uploading Thumbnail, and ChatMessageList while it loads older messages announce their busy start ("Loading") once, politely, through the shared announcement channel. The Spinner each one shows is hidden from assistive technology. Before, that Spinner mounted as its own role="status" region already named "Loading", which screen readers often skip; in ChatMessageList it was also a second live role inside the log. Tests that found these Spinners with getByRole('status', {name: 'Loading'}) should query the Spinner element or the owner's busy state instead. (#7950)
  • ChatComposerInput: the trigger menu's loading row no longer mounts as a role="status" region already holding its text, which screen readers could skip. The loading text is announced once per pending search through the shared polite channel instead, and a search that returns its results before the loading row is painted, such as createStaticSource or a cached result, announces nothing; the visible row and its loadingText are unchanged. (#7900) Fixes #7859.
  • useTypeahead clears its pending buffer reset when its component unmounts or an <Activity> boundary hides it, so a menu, list or selector removed within 750 ms of a typed character leaves no timer running behind it, and a hidden one comes back with an empty buffer (#7938)
  • ComplexSelector, Typeahead, Tokenizer and a directly used BaseTypeahead announce their busy start ("Loading") once, politely, through the shared announcement channel, and the Spinner they show while busy or while a search is in flight is no longer a live region: ComplexSelector's is hidden from assistive technology, and the search Spinner of Typeahead, Tokenizer and BaseTypeahead stays named as an image ("Loading") so the search's busy feedback keeps its name. Before, that Spinner mounted as its own role="status" region already named "Loading", which screen readers often skip, and it was a second owner beside the control's aria-busy. Inside an open modal dialog the announcement goes to a status region in the dialog. Tests that found the busy Spinner with getByRole('status', {name: 'Loading'}) should check the control's aria-busy, or find the search Spinner with getByRole('img', {name: 'Loading'}). (#7930)

Documentation

  • BottomSheetSwitcher anatomy names its host part Sheet dialogs — one native dialog per child sheet, the one hosting the active sheet carrying the flow's ref, id, modality, and dismissal — instead of Shared dialog. (#7720)

New Features

  • DropdownMenuSubMenu takes header and footer, as the root DropdownMenu does, so a sub-menu can have a filter field above its rows, or an action such as "New folder" below them, outside the sub-menu's menu itself. With either, the sub-menu's surface (the flyout, or the drilled-in view on a phone) is a modal dialog named by its row: the row says aria-haspopup="dialog", Tab and Shift+Tab walk the header, the rows and the footer and wrap, Escape returns to the row, and a pointer leaving the flyout closes it only once focus leaves too. A ContextMenu does not show a sub-menu's header or footer. Without them nothing changes.

     <DropdownMenuSubMenu
       label="Move to"
    +  header={<TextInput label="Filter folders" isLabelHidden value={query} onChange={setQuery} />}
