🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winThe guidance does not establish support for arbitrary configuration-file paths.
The hook and CLI load
.ghadocs.jsonfrom the consumer working directory. The CLI exposes action and README path options, but no configuration-file selection option. Therefore, a consumer that stores configuration under another filename cannot use that file through the published hook.Clarify the sentence to refer only to configurable action and README paths, or document and implement a configuration-file path option.

Review comment at @README.md around lines 161 - 169: The README hook guidance implies arbitrary configuration-file paths are covered, but configuration loads from .ghadocs.json and has no path-selection option. Update the sentence in the hook documentation to say only configurable action and README paths are covered; do not imply configuration-file path support.

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick winPublish the hook before documenting
rev: v2.
v2currently resolves toeaab4d23d4449592cff854d46525af5aab287ac4(v2.0.7), but that revision has no.pre-commit-hooks.yaml. A consumer following this example cannot registergithub-action-readme-generator.Publish a release that includes the manifest, then move
v2to that release before using it in the README. The smoke test does not cover this case because it uses the pull-request SHA instead ofv2.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

## [2.1.0](v2.0.7...v2.1.0) (2026-10-13) ### Features * **pre-commit:** publish README generator hook ([#745](#745)) ([b76647c](b76647c))
|
🎉 This PR is included in version 2.1.0 🎉 The release is available on: Your semantic-release bot 📦🚀 |
Why
Publish this repository as a native pre-commit hook provider so consumer repositories can regenerate README sections without maintaining a local hook definition.
Changes
.pre-commit-hooks.yamlwith hook idgithub-action-readme-generator.language: unsupported_scriptwrapper rather than installing this full development repository as a Node hook environment.package.jsonversion and executes that exact npm release withnpx.unsupported_scriptis the current name for this non-isolated script hook type.pass_filenames: falseso consumer-supplied action and README paths can be forwarded without staged filenames.pre-commit try-repo.Verification
The smoke test exercises the real consumer path on Node 24.19.0 and pre-commit 4.6.2:
.pre-commit-hooks.yaml;pre-commit try-repo;action.yml;This end-to-end test is now green. Existing repository lint, unit/build checks, CodeQL, and real-world integration tests remain the other merge gates.
The hook requires Node/npm in the consuming environment; the supported Node range is defined by this package's
enginesfield. Consumer documentation using the floatingv2tag is intentionally deferred until the release workflow has published this hook and promotedv2to that release.Summary by CodeRabbit
