feat(markdown): render inline images in messages and markdown files - #424
Conversation
Route markdown image nodes through a shared MarkdownImage component that loads local paths through the raw file API, and allow data:image/* sources through the sanitizer and URL transform so inline images survive rendering. Render image attachments as thumbnails in the message thread, and accept image/webp uploads.

- Line 19: Update the MarkdownImage component so linked images do not render an
interactive button inside their anchor; preserve the link’s click behavior while
keeping the existing button behavior for unlinked images.
- Line 11: In the component containing the failed state, reset failed whenever
src changes so a replacement image is displayed instead of the previous
fallback; preserve the current failure behavior for the new source.

Preserve the leading slash when resolving images from absolute files.
If filePath is /workspace/docs/README.md, resolvePathFromFile(filePath, 'img.png') returns workspace/docs/img.png. MarkdownImage then sends that relative path to the raw file API instead of /workspace/docs/img.png. Fix resolvePathFromFile to preserve the root of an absolute file path.

Keep linked Markdown images out of a nested button.
For [](target), MarkdownImage places this button inside the link. An anchor cannot contain an interactive button, and clicks on the button can reach the link handler. Preserve link behavior for linked images without nesting interactive controls. (developer.mozilla.org)

Exercise the file browser preview, assistant markdown images served by a local mock OpenAI-compatible provider, and composer image attachments in a real browser against the isolated e2e instance.
Keep the leading slash when resolving relative paths against an absolute markdown file, retry an inline image when its source changes after a load failure, and render linked markdown images without a nested expand button.
