Summary

Sessions running in a repo's worktrees were invisible. Worktrees created from a repo page are OpenCode worktrees that only appear in GET /api/repos/:id/siblings, and every surface matched sessions to repos by the repo's own paths. Worktree sessions were dropped from the activity list, the sidebar and the repo badges, and their pending permissions and forms never arrived because the event stream only subscribed repo directories.

Active work (lib/activeWork.ts, hooks/useActiveWork.ts, hooks/useRepoWorktrees.ts)

  • buildWorktreeActivity maps each worktree directory to its owning repo from the siblings response; the non-worktree repo wins when several repos report the same worktree.
  • Worktree sessions group like any other root, show the worktree branch, and open the repo's Workspaces tab (?repoTab=workspaces).
  • The siblings lookup runs only when a non-archived session matches no repo and is inside the window or under an active root (needsWorktreeLookup). The list stays loading until it settles.
  • Schedule-worktree sessions appear only while running or needing input, never as recent.

Repo badges (contexts/RepoWorktreesContext.tsx)

  • RepoWorktreesProvider runs one app-wide worktree lookup, only while some active session sits in a directory that matches no repo. useRepoActivityState checks each repo's own paths plus its worktrees.

Event stream (contexts/EventContext.tsx)

  • The global subscription covers repo directories plus the directories of non-idle sessions and running shells, so worktree permissions and forms arrive. Newly subscribed directories reconcile through the existing catch-up; directories drop once nothing in them is active.

Sidebar (RepoSessionNav.tsx, sidebar-session-tree.ts, useSidebarRepoGroups.ts)

  • The expanded repo group also lists sessions from that repo's non-schedule worktrees, tagged with the branch. Skipped when the repo row is itself a worktree.

Other

  • The desktop Activity panel merges panel=activity into the row link instead of replacing its query, so the worktree tab is kept (withQueryParam, now shared with getPathWithReturnTo).
  • The braille spinner drew an 8-dot cell, but every frame is 6-dot braille, so its bottom row was always dim. It is now a 2x3 cell.

Known limit

  • Matching compares trailing-slash-normalized paths. A session started outside Manager through a symlinked path to a worktree can still go unmatched.

Type of Change

  • Bug fix
  • New feature
  • Refactor
  • Documentation

Checklist

  • Code follows project style (no comments, named imports)
  • TypeScript types are properly defined
  • Tests added/updated (80% coverage target)
  • pnpm lint:frontend passes locally
  • Frontend typecheck passes locally

Tests

  • activeWork.test.ts: worktree mapping, owner preference and dedupe, schedule handling, needsWorktreeLookup, repoActivityFromIndex with worktrees, hasUnmatchedActiveDirectory.
  • useActiveWork.test.tsx: worktree session resolves through siblings; an orphan outside the window never fetches siblings.
  • RepoWorktreesContext.test.tsx: siblings fetched only when an active directory is unmatched.
  • EventContext.test.tsx: active worktree directory is subscribed, then dropped when idle.
  • sidebar-session-tree.test.ts, DesktopSessionTree.test.tsx: worktree sessions land in the owning repo with the branch tag.
  • ActivityList.test.tsx, ToolSidePanel.test.tsx: worktree branch label; repoTab kept when navigating.
  • activity-spinner.test.tsx: six dots.

Validation

  • pnpm --filter frontend exec vitest run: 243 files, 2915 tests passed.
  • pnpm --filter frontend exec tsc -b and pnpm lint:frontend: clean.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Worktree sessions now appear under their owning repository in activity and navigation views, with the worktree branch shown for easier identification.
    • Selecting a worktree session opens its Workspaces view while preserving the current activity panel and other navigation options.
    • Activity monitoring now includes directories with active sessions, including worktrees outside configured repository folders.
    • The sidebar now shows loading or error feedback when worktree information is unavailable.
  • Improvements

    • Updated the activity spinner to use a simpler six-dot design.

…and repo badges

- Resolve sessions in repo worktrees to the owning repo in the activity list; show the worktree branch and open the Workspaces tab
- Look up worktrees only for unmatched sessions in the window or under an active root, and hold the loading state until it settles
- Show schedule-worktree sessions only while running or needing input
- Light repo badges for worktree sessions through one app-wide worktree lookup
- List worktree sessions under the expanded repo in the sidebar
- Subscribe the event stream to active session directories so worktree permissions and forms arrive
- Keep the worktree tab when navigating from the desktop Activity panel
- Remove the braille spinner's always-dim bottom row

📝 Walkthrough

The app discovers active worktrees and uses them to group sessions under their owning repositories. Worktree sessions display their branch and use workspace navigation. Event subscriptions include active session directories. The activity spinner now uses six dots.

Changes: Worktree-aware activity and navigation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Detect active directories and discover worktrees
frontend/src/contexts/EventContext.tsx, frontend/src/contexts/RepoWorktreesContext.tsx, frontend/src/hooks/useRepoWorktrees.ts, frontend/src/lib/activeWork.ts, frontend/src/App.tsx, related tests
The provider enables worktree lookup when active directories do not match configured repositories. Sibling repositories provide worktree data, and event subscriptions include active session and running-shell directories.
Map worktree activity to owning repositories
frontend/src/lib/activeWork.ts, frontend/src/hooks/useActiveWork.ts, related tests
Activity and sessions in worktree directories map to their owning repositories. The grouping logic applies worktree lookup and schedule-worktree rules.
Show worktree branches and preserve navigation state
frontend/src/components/navigation/sidebar-session-tree.ts, frontend/src/hooks/useSidebarRepoGroups.ts, frontend/src/components/navigation/RepoSessionNav.tsx, frontend/src/components/activity/ActivityList.tsx, frontend/src/components/navigation/ToolSidePanel.tsx, frontend/src/lib/navigation.ts, related tests
Sidebar and activity rows show worktree branches. Worktree session links use the workspaces tab. Activity navigation preserves existing query parameters when it adds panel=activity.

Activity spinner layout

Layer / File(s) Summary
Use six spinner dot positions
frontend/src/components/ui/activity-spinner.tsx, frontend/src/components/ui/activity-spinner.test.tsx
The Braille spinner layout and its test expectations use six dots instead of eight.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | 🏗️ Heavy lift

Keep active schedule-worktree sessions in the sidebar.

When a schedule worktree has a running session or a session that needs input, this filter still removes its directory. useSidebarRepoGroups then cannot fetch or show that session. Apply the running-or-needs-input exception before excluding a schedule worktree. The PR requires that exception.

Propagate worktree lookup errors through useActiveWork.

When a recent unmatched session triggers useRepoWorktrees, an initial sibling-query error leaves that query without data. buildWorktreeActivity omits the worktree, and loading finishes. useActiveWork reports only isSessionsError, so both active-work consumers show an incomplete list without the existing error state.
