Summary

Code Mode execute tool calls rendered through the generic tool branch: the script was one escaped JSON string and the nested tool calls were invisible. This adds a dedicated card modelled on the OpenCode CLI execute view.

  • Header: status icon and Receiving code… / Running / awaiting permission / Completed · 31ms / Failed · 1.23s. A completed part with metadata.error === true shows as failed.
  • Nested calls: rows from metadata.toolCalls (› tool [k=v], ✗ for errors) stay visible while collapsed and update live. Rows with input expand to show every key; file paths in them open the file.
  • Expanded body: line-numbered, highlighted Code (TS) and Output (JSON when it parses, with any Warnings:/Logs: tail as plain text). Code and output share one gutter width. Copy code / Copy output always copy the full text.
  • Failure preview: a collapsed failed run shows the first 4 output lines in red.

Images and files returned by tools

Tool results can carry { type: 'file', uri, mime, name } parts (Code Mode attaches screenshots from browser and computer-use tools this way). Nothing rendered them. A new shared ToolContentFiles component now shows them in the execute card, the generic tool card, and the file tool card (e.g. read of an image), visible even while the card is collapsed.

  • Images use the existing InlineImage, so a click opens the full-size preview.
  • Only data:image/, https:// and http:// URIs are used as an image source. Other files, and images with any other URI scheme, show as a name chip.

Implementation notes

  • ToolCallPart delegates execute parts to ExecuteToolPart after its shared hooks run, so hook order is unchanged.
  • Highlighting reuses markdownRehypePlugins through ReactMarkdown. No new dependencies.
  • clampDisplayText moved to frontend/src/lib/clampDisplayText.ts so both renderers bound large output the same way.
  • ClickableJson's file-reference linkifying was extracted into FileReferenceText and reused by the execute card.
  • Toggles expose aria-expanded.

ocm-cli

  • ocm login <url> [token] --name <name> saves a label for the manager. The attached TUI shows it (in orange) instead of the manager host when it belongs to the attached manager, and ocm status prints it. Logging in to a different URL without --name drops the old name.
  • Warping into opencode now replaces the ocm process via process.execve when running under Bun, falling back to the previous spawnSync.

Known gaps (not in this PR)

  • A completed script whose nested call failed, without metadata.error, still shows "Completed". The CLI counts any child status: 'error' as a failure.
  • Decisions.md names three Markdown renderers. This card adds a fourth that uses the same shared pipeline.

Validation

  • ocm-cli: vitest run test/remote-context.test.ts test/warp.test.ts 31 passed; pnpm typecheck and pnpm lint clean
  • pnpm exec vitest run src/components/message src/components/ui/inline-image.test.tsx src/lib/clampDisplayText.test.ts: 232 passed
  • pnpm lint:frontend: clean
  • pnpm typecheck (frontend): clean
  • Not compared side by side with the CLI in a running browser.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Tool calls show execution status, code, output, errors, and attached files, with expandable details and copy controls.
    • File references in tool content are clickable, and supported image attachments appear inline.
    • ocm login accepts an optional manager name, which appears in CLI status and the interface.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Long tool output is shortened for display while retaining its beginning and end.
    • Pending warp commands fall back to launching when direct execution fails.

📝 Walkthrough

The frontend adds execute-tool panels, shared text display helpers, and file rendering for completed tool results. The CLI adds optional manager names to login state and display labels. Pending warps attempt execution through an executor before the spawn path.

Changes: Frontend tool rendering

Layer / File(s) Summary
Shared text display
frontend/src/components/message/FileReferenceText.tsx, frontend/src/components/message/ToolCallPart.tsx, frontend/src/lib/clampDisplayText.ts, frontend/src/lib/clampDisplayText.test.ts
File references render as clickable buttons. Long text is clamped with an omission notice. Existing JSON rendering uses the shared file-reference component.
Completed tool file rendering
frontend/src/components/message/ToolContentFiles.tsx, frontend/src/components/message/FileToolRender.tsx, frontend/src/components/message/ToolCallPart.tsx, frontend/src/components/message/ToolContentFiles.test.tsx, frontend/src/components/message/ToolCallPart.test.tsx
Completed tool results display qualifying images inline and other files as labeled text. File tool cards and the main tool panel include file content. Tests cover image eligibility and empty states.
Execute-tool rendering
frontend/src/components/message/ExecuteToolPart.tsx, frontend/src/components/message/ToolCallPart.tsx, frontend/src/components/message/ToolCallPart.test.tsx
Execute calls display status, inputs, code, output, and associated files. The panel supports expansion, copy controls, and file-reference clicks. Tests cover statuses, expansion, and rendering.

CLI manager names

Layer / File(s) Summary
Manager name login state
ocm-cli/src/state.ts, ocm-cli/bin/ocm.ts, ocm-cli/README.md, ocm-cli/test/cli-auth-commands.test.ts
Login accepts an optional --name value and stores it with the manager URL. It retains the existing name for the same normalized URL when no name is supplied, and clears it for a different URL. Tests cover argument validation and token placement.
Manager name display
ocm-cli/src/remote-context.ts, ocm-cli/src/tui.tsx, ocm-cli/bin/ocm.ts, ocm-cli/test/remote-context.test.ts
The CLI displays the saved name when the saved and attached manager URLs match. Otherwise, it displays the manager host.

Pending warp execution

Layer / File(s) Summary
Executor attempt and spawn fallback
ocm-cli/src/warp.ts, ocm-cli/test/warp.test.ts
runPendingWarp attempts execution through an executor before spawning. The default executor checks for Bun, the opencode binary, and process.execve. Tests cover executor invocation and spawn fallback.
