On macOS, the local install does not answer on 127.0.0.1:8001 unless Docker Desktop's host networking is on. The local guide does not say so.
deploy/compose.yaml sets network_mode: host on the services. Docker Desktop runs containers in a Linux VM, and by default host mode puts them on the network of that VM, not on the Mac's. Nothing listens on port 8001 on the Mac (lsof -iTCP:8001), so the health check in docs/full-local.md fails:

Docker Desktop's host networking (Settings → Resources → Network → Enable host networking, under "Features in development" in some versions) fixes it. After Apply & Restart, docker compose up -d and the health check work.
docs/full-local.md mentions this setting only as a fix for unreachable sandbox SSH.

docs/full-local.md says that macOS needs Docker Desktop's host networking before the first docker compose up, and says where the setting is. scripts/install.sh could also warn on macOS when it is off.
