Note: This repository is a fork of the original project, found at File-New-Project/EarTrumpet. It was created to experiment with AI tools in order to add a feature I wanted in an application I use every day: Audio Playback Device Hiding.
This fork adds full support for hiding audio playback endpoints so you can keep your flyout volume mixer tidy and focused only on the devices you actively use:
- Quick-Hide from Flyout: Hover over any device title in the volume flyout to reveal the hide button, instantly collapsing and removing the device from view.
- Dedicated "Devices" Settings Page: Manage all detected audio endpoints in Settings > Devices, view device status (
Hiddenvs. active), toggle individual device visibility, or unhide all devices in one click. - Non-Destructive & Persistent: Hiding a device inside EarTrumpet only affects EarTrumpet's mixer UI; it does not disable or modify the device in Windows Sound settings. Preferences persist across restarts and device reconnections.
- Pre-built Downloads: Ready-to-run binaries and portable zip archives are available on the Releases page.

Windows is an open platform for innovation. We know that not every customer uses Windows in the same way — some want to modify different parts of the UI or make some features more accessible for them. These are the apps you said turn Windows into your Windows.
[...] there are alternative solutions like EarTrumpet which are great [...]
[...] there are third-party solutions out there that do a much better job than what Windows offers by default. One such app is called EarTrumpet [...]
Microsoft's built-in Windows 11 audio management still isn't great. EarTrumpet overhauls it completely, with a system tray utility that gives you volume levels for every app and the ability to set custom inputs and outputs for those apps.
If you want fine-tuned control of your app and system volume, EarTrumpet is a must.
