OTLP export auth can pull usernames, passwords, and bearer tokens from environment variables instead of requiring plaintext in config files.

Changes

  • Resolve ${VAR} in OTLP basic auth and bearer fields when building export headers
  • Fix docs that showed unquoted env(OTLP_PASSWORD) syntax
  • Add unit tests for env resolution and basic auth header generation

Testing

Ran in the Linux Docker builder image (same toolchain as CI):

  • cargo fmt --check
  • cargo clippy -p mermin -r -- -D warnings
  • cargo nextest run -r -p mermin
  • cargo test --doc

Haven't the env HCL function already been implemented? I remember using it in some config

ah yeah, i see it was implemented in #261. I'll drop the hcl part then. i didn't realize it was implemented and made an additional redundant env func. I just dropped the hcl func that was in this pr.

Resolve ${VAR} placeholders in YAML OTLP auth fields at header generation
time. HCL configs continue to use env(), which is already evaluated when
the config loads. Fix docs that showed unquoted env(OTLP_PASSWORD) syntax.
