Allow Cypress install script for any version - #2216
Conversation
npm 12 only runs install scripts for allowScripts entries matching the installed version. Cypress was pinned at 16.0.0, so after it was bumped to 16.1.0 its postinstall (binary download) was silently skipped and `cypress run` failed in the release workflow with a missing binary. Use a name-only entry so version bumps don't break it.

WalkthroughThe ChangesCypress script allowance
Priority: ➖ Normal Estimated code review effort: 1 (Trivial) | ~2 minutes Change: Bug fix Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to A future Cypress update could run its install script in pull-request CI before review if workflows are not held for approval. Dependabot jobs have limited credentials, and the repository’s approval setting is unknown, so this is a bounded supply-chain risk. 🚥 Pre-merge checks | ✅ 5✅ Passed checks (5 passed)

Pin Cypress’s install-script approval to the reviewed version. The pull_request workflow runs npm ci, and Dependabot opens npm update PRs. A name-only approval can run a newly updated Cypress version’s postinstall in CI before review. Pin the current lockfile version and update the pin with each reviewed bump.
