Context

On a Danish layout, Hyper+- did not split down inside herdr. The - key sits where US layouts have /. Ghostty's slash names that physical key, so it passed the chord on, but herdr received the character - while split_horizontal was bound to slash.

Summary

Hyper+- now splits down in herdr and in plain Ghostty, following the active keyboard layout.

Changes

  • herdr: split_horizontal = "ctrl+alt+cmd+minus".
  • Ghostty: the root new_split:down binding and its herdr/ table entry use the character trigger ctrl+alt+super+- instead of the physical slash. Ghostty's minus would be the physical US-minus key, which types + on Danish.

Validation

  • test.sh, ghostty +validate-config and herdr config check pass.
  • In a throwaway Ghostty instance with the Danish layout, keys sent to that instance only: Hyper+- splits Ghostty outside herdr. With the herdr table active, it reaches the program as ESC[45::47;15u (- with Ctrl+Alt+Super).
  • Not verified: herdr acting on that sequence. Check it live after applying.

On a Danish layout - sits on the physical US slash key. Ghostty's slash
names that physical key, so it passed the chord to herdr, which got the
character - and had split_horizontal bound to slash.

Bind the character in both: Ghostty's - follows the active layout and
herdr gets ctrl+alt+cmd+minus.
