[BUG] Regret tolerance depends on the game representation #1168

Closed

Description

@tturocy

max_regret is interpreted relative to the game's payoff range. However, this is defined differently for trees and tables:

  • A tree takes it over terminal histories, before averaging over chance (GameTreeRep::GetPlayerMinPayoff/GetPlayerMaxPayoff);
  • A table takes it over cells, i.e. expected payoffs after chance.

Therefore, results differ if one solves a game that's represented as a tree but solved in strategic form, versus materialising the reduced strategic form table explicitly as a table-represented game.
