Without ALSACaptureDevice/ALSAPlaybackDevice set, the gateway took the first device whose name contains "i2s". On a Raspberry Pi the HDMI output is usually card 0 and named "MAI PCM i2s-hifi-0", so playback went to HDMI and the hotspot received but could not transmit. Capture was unaffected, since HDMI cannot record.

Device selection is now shared by capture and playback and tested without hardware:

  • A configured device always wins and must match.
  • Otherwise playback is taken from the same card as the capture device, which is the SX1255's card.
  • Otherwise an I2S device that is not HDMI, then any non-HDMI device, then any device.

The settings now also accept hw:CARD,DEVICE (and hw:CARD) besides the device name and the /dev/snd path, and an unmatched setting gives an error naming the accepted forms. The chosen device is logged at INFO, all devices found at DEBUG. The sample config documents the formats.

Not yet tested on SX1255 hardware.

Thanks! I tested on-air with my SX1255 HAT and it seemed to work. (I don't have the HDMI device issue, so I couldn't test that.)
