Brings the 25_tags_annotations feature work together with the dependency/test modernization (PR #21's 2026-06-10-modernized) and a GitHub Actions refresh. Mirrors the same modernization applied to dserver-search-plugin-mongo.

Contents

Feature work (from 25_tags_annotations)

  • Tag/annotation/readme editing: set_tags / set_annotations / set_readme on MongoRetrieve
  • Store a YAML-parsed copy of the README under readme_parsed for structured queries by co-installed plugins (e.g. dependency-graph's readme_parsed.derived_from.uuid); adds PyYAML dependency
  • Build system switched to flit (flit_scm)

Dependency/test modernization (merge of 2026-06-10-modernized)

  • requires-python = ">=3.10"; CI matrix updated to Python 3.10–3.13 × MongoDB 5.0–8.0
  • Test fixtures: MongoDB URI overridable via TEST_MONGO_URI env var (default mongodb://localhost:27017/); added client.close() in teardown to avoid connection-pool exhaustion; removed stale FLASK_ENV key
  • Test app config exposes bare MONGO_URI/MONGO_DB/MONGO_COLLECTION keys for co-installed plugins

CI actions modernization

  • actions/checkout v4 → v6
  • actions/setup-python v5 → v6
  • supercharge/mongodb-github-action 1.11.0 → 1.12.1
  • actions/upload-artifact v4 → v7
  • actions/download-artifact v4 → v8
  • sigstore/gh-action-sigstore-python v2.1.1 → v3
  • pypa/gh-action-pypi-publish stays on the maintained release/v1 floating tag

Docs

  • Added CLAUDE.md describing architecture, commands, and the test/packaging setup

Merge-conflict resolution notes

The merge of 2026-06-10-modernized conflicted in pyproject.toml and the three test files. Resolved by taking modernization's requires-python >=3.10, client.close() teardowns, FLASK_ENV removal and CI matrix, while keeping the feature branch's flit build, readme_parsed/PyYAML, and the co-installed-plugin config keys. The test-connection override env var is standardized on TEST_MONGO_URI (kept distinct from the MONGO_URI Flask config key used by co-installed plugins).

Verification

The equivalent modernization on dserver-search-plugin-mongo passed the full 16-cell matrix locally under act. For this PR, GitHub Actions will run the full Python 3.10–3.13 × MongoDB 5.0–8.0 matrix. (A local act run confirmed the first cell green; a clean full local re-run is in progress.)

- Read MongoDB URI from MONGO_URI env var (default: mongodb://localhost:27017/)
- Add client.close() after drop_database() to prevent connection pool exhaustion
- Remove stale FLASK_ENV config key (removed in Flask 3.0)
- Config route test: compare URI against MONGO_URI env var instead of hardcoded value

Aligns with dservercore's new minimum Python version.
Drop EOL Python 3.7-3.9; drop EOL MongoDB 4.2/4.4; add MongoDB 7.0/8.0.
