Rewrites the root README from an architecture note into a pitch, using details from the code and packages/astro/README.md.

Changes

  • Tagline and intro lead with visual editing + change-only AI translations, and the "no server, no lock-in" angle.
  • Experimental warning up front.
  • Screenshots of the editor (block selected, props panel) and the admin list (per-language sync dots), taken from examples/playground in dev mode.
  • Why Plinto: the in-browser git checkout vs. API-based CMSs, change-only translations with no master language, your components as blocks, byte-identical files.
  • Philosophy: developers own the site (layouts, meta, robots, favicon, components); editors only fill exposed props.
  • Try it (playground, verified to run) and Add it to your site with the real requirements: Tailwind 3, CORS proxy, per-editor token, optional API key.
  • How it works: dev vs. browser mode, the invite/setup-code flow, .obelum/ copies, Fix, conflict merging, LFS media.
  • Limitations: the root-level prose footnote promoted to a section, plus GitHub-only, manual tokens, and ssr.noExternal.

Please check

  • The comparison line about Decap/TinaCMS/Keystatic using the GitHub API or a backend: accurate to my knowledge, worth a glance.
  • The setup code is plain base64 of the token and API key. The README now says to send it like a password. Consider whether you want that stated differently.
