Pull request overview
This PR introduces a new (WIP) hardware variant for the RadioMaster Nomad Gemini (LR11x0-based) and adds shared infrastructure for (1) external PA power mapping/bias control and (2) standardized fan enable control (including optional PWM) across several existing variants.
Changes:
- Add a new
radiomaster_nomad_geminivariant (pins, LR11x0 RF-switch table, and a new PlatformIO env file). - Add a generic “external PA” hook layer and a Nomad-specific implementation using an ESP32 DAC pin (APC2) to bias an analog PA.
- Standardize PA fan control by renaming
RF95_FAN_EN→RADIO_FAN_EN, centralizing fan enable/disable inRadioLibInterface, and adding optional PWM support.

Estimated code review effort: 4 (Complex) | ~45 minutes Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to This PR changes radio fan control and currently leaves two concrete failure paths: when PWM setup fails, later fan updates may not affect the GPIO-controlled fan, and SX126x sleep may leave the fan powered. These can cause incorrect cooling behavior and unnecessary power draw, so the PR is not merge-ready until both paths are corrected. Sequence Diagram(s)sequenceDiagram

Pass frequency in Hz to radioExternalPaMapPower()
getFreq() returns MHz, but the hook documents freqHz. Convert the argument here or rename the parameter/docs; otherwise a band-aware external PA override will read the wrong unit.

Fall back to plain GPIO fan control when ledcSetup() fails so the PA is never left uncooled. Rename the external PA hook frequency parameter to freqMhz to match what getFreq() returns. Trim oversized comments per repo guideline.
The CI matrix generator now requires board_level on every environment.

- // Boards with an external PA controlled outside the transceiver (e.g. an analog PA - // biased through a DAC pin) map the desired total output to a possibly-negative chip - // output power here. This is applied even for licensed operators, because it reflects - // a hardware gain stage, not a regulatory limit (the regulatory clamp above already - // honors the license). Pass-through by default; see RadioExternalPa.h. + // Map the region-clamped total output to chip output for an external PA. + // The default hook returns RADIO_EXTERNAL_PA_NO_MAP. ... -// todo:All entries containing "lora fem" are grouped together above.As per coding guidelines, “Keep code comments minimal - one or two lines, max.”

Preserve the GPIO fallback after PWM initialization fails.
After ledcSetup() fails, src/main.cpp drives RADIO_FAN_EN as GPIO. Later enableFan() and disableFan() still call ledcWrite(). Fan state changes can then have no physical effect. This can leave a fan off after configuration enables it.

Disable the fan in SX126xInterface<T>::sleep().
Line 67 enables the fan. SX126xInterface<T>::sleep() does not call disableFan(). The fan can remain powered while the radio sleeps.
Call disableFan() before sleep() returns.
