The NUCLEO boards were feeling lonely in the Pinout Explorer, so the Discovery kits moved in. Turns out the same parser eats most of their manuals too, the old ones just needed a second table shape because ST used to describe the headers from the point of view of the MCU instead of the connector.

Every board now also links into the pinout generator with the board's default pin usage already filled in. No changes to modm-pinout needed: its share URL is simply precomputed here.

  • 59 new boards: Discovery kits, a few B-xxx kits and evaluation boards (155 total).
  • STMod+, Pmod, mikroBUS and extension (P1/P2) connectors.
  • Old Discovery kits (F0/F3/F4/L1/VL): "MCU pin description versus board function" tables.
  • Marketing names (32F429IDISCOVERY) map onto the real ones (STM32F429I-DISCO).
  • Only boards with a CubeMX board file are kept, which gets rid of STM32XXYYZ-DK, the board nobody can buy.
  • Device taken from the CubeMX board file, since Discovery names do not contain it.
  • Pinout generator link for 139 boards: used functions selected, board labels and connector positions as comments.
  • NUCLEO data is byte-identical apart from the new link.
  • Explorer page updated in the gist.

Missing:

  • EVAL daughterboard connectors are skipped on purpose: huge and unique to each board.
  • B-L475E-IOT01A: CubeMX only knows the IOT01A1/IOT01A2 variants.
  • STM32F4DISCOVERY has no board file, only STM32F407G-DISC1 survives.
  • B-L462E-CELL1 has a bogus second CN12, because the manual calls two connectors CN12.
  • Links for devices that modm-devices does not know yet (C5, WBA, N6, some H5).
  • The file is still called nucleo.json. Naming things is hard, renaming them is harder.

The STMod+, Pmod, mikroBUS and extension connectors of the Discovery kits
and evaluation boards are extracted in addition to the NUCLEO boards. The
older Discovery kits describe their extension connectors as one table of all
device pins, which is parsed separately. Only boards known to CubeMX are
kept, which removes their marketing names and placeholders, and the device
is taken from the CubeMX board description.

Every board links to the page of its device in the pinout generator, with
the functions that the board already uses selected and the board labels and
connector positions as comments.
