WalkthroughThe change adds fixed parameter constraints to compiler target capabilities, including validation, support queries, and attribute conversion. It also adds fixed-rotation basis selection and synthesis, then wires target-aware canonicalization and inlining into compilation and synthesis pipelines. ChangesFixed-Parameter Target Compilation

Let me try to get a quick review in here. Don't want to be the blocker here. |
|
I pushed a commit here that trims this down quite a bit. Let me know if that makes any sense. Should be sufficient for the necessary scope we need |
|
Okay, not yet done with this one, but heading to bed for now. Rest is merged 🚀 Edit: iteration completed. I am not sure this is final yet, but it is looking much cleaner already in my opinion. Maybe @simon1hofmann you could have a look again, judge whether you like it and push it a little further. |

I rebased #2578 and also the MQT Bench integration, this seems enough for what I need 👍 |

Alright. Let's get this one in first. I haven't had time to review the follow-up yet.
🤖 AI text below 🤖
Description
Support fixed parameter values and multiple native alternatives in compiler targets. This lets a target describe RX(π/2), RX(-π/2), RX(π), and RX(-π) together, while keeping RZ unrestricted. Matching, target serialization, compatibility checks, and final conformance enforce the same restrictions.
Reuse the existing ZSXX decomposition for both IBM's named SX/X gates and fixed RX pulses. Numeric and symbolic lowering preserve the exact phase difference between SX/X and RX. An available half turn shortens suitable sequences; other fixed values remain valid capabilities without introducing arbitrary-angle synthesis.
Qiskit target import now preserves constant parameters, unrestricted parameter slots, and distinct names for standard-gate instances. Target-aware circuit export selects the reported name by gate semantics, parameters, and ordered placement. For example,
quarter_turnandhalf_turncan both describe RX with different fixed angles. Named SX/X retain their own matrices and phase.Target compilation and target synthesis require a supported single-qubit basis on every site. Targets without one remain usable for capability queries and conformance checks. This explicit contract permits the ordinary canonicalizer and inliner; no special cleanup factories or additional Euler basis are needed. No new dependencies are required.
Example
A nonempty
fixed_parameterslist has one entry per parameter;Noneleaves that slot unrestricted. An omitted list is unrestricted. Multiple capabilities form a union of supported values and placements.canonical_name="rx"associates a device-specific name such asrx_90with its compiler operation.Device coverage and boundaries
A paginated scan of all five Braket regions on 2026-10-01 inspected every online device. The six online gate QPUs were Rigetti Cepheus-1-108Q, IonQ Forte-1 and Forte-Enterprise-1, IQM Garnet and Emerald, and AQT IBEX Q1. The implementation record lists their native gates, verbatim constraints, primary sources, and the Qiskit/PennyLane/CUDA-Q/Microsoft comparison.
1e-15, without periodic wrapping. Unbound values require unrestricted support. Parameter ranges and relations are not represented; finite Qiskit angle bounds remain unsupported.Validation
