Conversation
First-run desktop setup asked for a goal, identity, and a first message, with a fake thinking delay and a cinematic handoff. The only remaining gate is connecting a provider. After that, Akeru creates a named teammate and opens its chat. Skip still lives on Connect. Composer 2.5 (Cursor Cloud) Co-authored-by: Leo <leoisadev1@users.noreply.github.com>

The wordmark sat alone at the top of the overlay while Connect floated in the middle. It now leads the step stack with the existing app icon, and DEV capture can finish silent-create without a live subscription. Composer 2.5 (Cursor Cloud) Co-authored-by: Leo <leoisadev1@users.noreply.github.com>
Stop auto-opening the provider sign-in URL so users can copy the device code first. Center the overlay brand at the top, keep the creating status brief, remove first-chat onboarding chips, and make skip land on a warmer create-teammate empty state. What Changed
Desktop first-run no longer walks through Goal, Identity, a first-message step, a four-up rail, or a confetti handoff.
The overlay still appears only in Electron. Connect a provider remains the only hard gate (existing Connect UI). Once that provider is ready, setup silently creates a bot with a random curated teammate name (Nova, Scout, Dispatch, and so on), a random blob avatar, the connected provider’s engine, and an empty brief. If the environment is bootstrapped and has no projects, it also creates a default project from cwd so the composer is not dead. Then it opens
/bots/$botId, marks desktop onboarding completed, and focuses the composer.Leo feedback (this revision):
Web and mobile are unchanged: no wizard port.
Why
Leo locked silent create after a long wait. The extra setup steps were theater: fake thinking, a required name/Meet screen, and a mandatory first prompt. They delayed the first real chat without teaching anything the product then used.
First-run beats
Setting up {name})Step 7 (chip fill) removed — onboarding chips are gone.
Skip path choice
Softened skip confirm (“Skip for now?” + copy that you can connect/create whenever ready) and a post-skip Create a teammate empty state with a clear Create bot CTA. Smallest intentional fix for the cold cliff; did not restore Goal / Meet / forced first prompt.
Checklist
Verified with targeted
vp lintand onboarding tests (22). Captures used the real overlay (DEV capture / force-desktop). Not a packaged Electron window. To show artifacts inline, enable in settings.
