This PR was automatically created by Copybara, syncing changes from the overmindtech/workspace monorepo.

Original author: Elliot Waddington (getinnocuous@users.noreply.github.com)

What happens when this PR is merged?

  1. The tag-on-merge workflow will automatically create the v1.19.1 tag on main
  2. This tag will trigger the release workflow, which will:
    • Run tests
    • Build and publish release binaries via GoReleaser
    • Upload packages to Cloudsmith

## Summary

Minor Go dependency updates for general maintenance and cleanup.

## Changes

- Updated `golang.org/x/text` to v0.41.0
- Updated `golang.org/x/telemetry` to latest
- Updated `golang.org/x/tools` to v0.48.0
- Updated `google.golang.org/protobuf` to v1.36.12
- Updated `google.golang.org/genproto/googleapis/rpc` to latest
- Fixed go.mod grouping: moved `github.com/google/jsonschema-go` to
direct dependencies block

## Context

This PR was initially created to investigate Snyk Go vulnerability
findings, but analysis confirmed all packages are already at patched
versions (false positives). Those will be dismissed in Snyk UI
separately.

This PR keeps the dependency updates from that investigation for general
maintenance - cleaner dependencies are better.

## Testing

- ✅ All CI checks pass
- ✅ `go mod tidy` runs clean
- ✅ Bugbot go.mod grouping issue resolved

### Measure Twice, Draw Once

Mostly a width-measurement release, courtesy of some Ultraviolet and
`x/ansi` bumps, plus a table fix.

#### Emoji

Ultraviolet now asks the terminal at startup whether it supports Unicode
core mode (DEC mode 2027), and when it does, measures widths the same
way the terminal does. No more drifting borders on rows with `⚠️` and
friends.

It also had a four-column cap on cell width, which meant anything wider
was dropped from the screen entirely — `👨‍👩‍👧‍👦` is eight columns. That
cap is gone.

#### Hindi

Terminals without mode 2027 advance the cursor once per codepoint and
don't know about cluster boundaries. Unicode 15.1 merged Indic conjuncts
into single clusters, so `स्ते` is one cluster that those terminals
still paint in two columns. Measuring it as a unit put everything after
it in the wrong place.

The wcwidth path now measures per codepoint, matching what those
terminals actually do. If you're rendering through Bubble Tea,
Devanagari should line up.

#### Tables

Columns no longer shrink to zero. There's now a minimum width floor of
padding plus one character, with a fallback to the old behavior when the
width budget is impossible. Thanks to
[@taciturnaxolotl](https://redirect.github.com/taciturnaxolotl)!

#### Heads up

`Canvas.Render()` now trims trailing whitespace. Expect goldens to move.

[`v1.10.0`](https://redirect.github.com/sirupsen/logrus/releases/tag/v1.10.0)

[Compare
Source](https://redirect.github.com/sirupsen/logrus/compare/v1.9.4...v1.10.0)

### Logrus v1.10.0

This release focuses on substantial performance improvements,
concurrency correctness, and better interoperability with modern Go
logging APIs.

#### 🚀 Performance

Major improvements across `TextFormatter`, entry handling, and common
logger paths:

- \~17% lower geomean runtime across the benchmark suite
- \~27% higher geomean formatter throughput
- Common enabled logging paths are \~30–44% faster
- `WithError` is \~40% faster
- Chained fields are \~46% faster
- `TextFormatter` paths are up to \~40% faster
- Allocation counts are reduced by \~25–74% across measured
`TextFormatter` cases, with the largest reductions in colored output

The improvements also show up in complete logger paths:

- Logger + `TextFormatter` is \~31% faster, with \~24% fewer allocations
- Logger + `JSONFormatter` is \~21% faster, with \~10% fewer allocations

`JSONFormatter` itself remains largely unchanged in runtime performance,
with small allocation reductions.

#### 🔄 `log/slog` interoperability

v1.10 adds bidirectional interoperability between Logrus and Go's
`log/slog`:

- A Logrus `slog` hook can forward existing Logrus entries to an `slog`
logger.
- `hooks/slog.NewHandler` implements `slog.Handler`, allowing `log/slog`
records to use an existing Logrus logger and its hooks, formatter, and
output.
- The handler preserves levels, fields, groups, context, record
timestamps, and optionally caller information.
- Caller reporting is configured per handler, without requiring Logrus's
logger-wide `ReportCaller` option.
- Custom `slog` levels can be mapped to Logrus levels.
- The hook and handler can be combined, providing a practical path for
incrementally migrating from Logrus to `log/slog` without requiring an
all-at-once transition.

This allows applications to migrate their logging API and logging
backend independently: existing Logrus call sites can start using an
`slog` backend, while new `slog` code can continue using an established
Logrus setup.

#### 🔒 Concurrency & Correctness

- Fix reentrant logging deadlocks, including logging from within
`MarshalJSON` or formatter code.
- Fix generic `Log`, `Logf`, `Logln`, and `LogFn` methods unexpectedly
panicking when called with `PanicLevel`, contrary to their documented
behavior.
- Eliminate race conditions in entry and formatter paths.
- Improve locking boundaries around formatters and hooks.

#### ➕ Added

- `TextFormatter` now automatically enables colors on Windows terminals
with ANSI support, matching behavior on other platforms.
- `Entry.Caller` can now be set explicitly and is preserved across
derived entries. When caller reporting is enabled, Logrus only detects
and populates caller information when none was provided, allowing custom
caller detection and wrapper-aware logging without adding additional
caller configuration APIs.
- Add minimal, composable logging interfaces for each log level,
allowing consumers to depend on narrower interfaces and making logging
implementations easier to substitute or adapt.
- Expand CI verification to include TinyGo and every cross-compile
target reported by go tool dist list, improving coverage across
alternative toolchains and platforms.

#### ⚠️ Behavioral Changes

- Minimum supported Go version is now **1.23**.
- `TextFormatter` now renders `[]byte` as raw/quoted strings instead of
numeric slices.
If you relied on the previous slice-of-ints output, convert explicitly
before logging.
- `TextFormatter` now uses dim cyan for debug output and dim white for
trace output in colorized TTY output.
- `Entry.HasCaller` is now deprecated in favor of checking
`Entry.Caller` directly. A `//go:fix inline` directive was added so
existing uses can be updated automatically.
- `MutexWrap`, which was unintentionally exposed as public API, is
deprecated. It remains available as an alias for compatibility but
should not be used directly.

***

v1.10 is primarily a performance, correctness, and interoperability
release with no intentional breaking public API changes.

## Summary

- Stop dual-writing Brent telemetry. until-backend now emits Until names
only so Honeycomb, Sentry, logs, and PostHog match the queries already
bound to Until keys.
- Live MCP spans were still `brent.mcp.toolCall` while the flood trigger
filters `until.mcp.toolCall`; this PR closes that gap in the same deploy
as deleting the wrapper.

## Linear Ticket

Fixes:
[ENG-6186](https://linear.app/overmind/issue/ENG-6186/remove-telemetry-dual-write-emit-until-only-keys)
— Remove telemetry dual-write; emit Until-only keys

- **Purpose**: Application telemetry emits only Until names (`until.*`,
`ovm.until.*`, `service.name=until-backend`, Until PostHog names) and
the dual-write wrapper is gone.
- **Blocks**:
[ENG-6197](https://linear.app/overmind/issue/ENG-6197/add-a-go-ci-gate-against-new-brent-ovmbrent-telemetry-literals),
[ENG-5979](https://linear.app/overmind/issue/ENG-5979/run-the-final-independent-until-literal-zero-checks)

## Changes

- Rewrite OTel/log/Sentry keys, span names, and tracer names (`brent.*`
→ `until.*`, `ovm.brent.*` → `ovm.until.*`). Must-fix:
`until.mcp.toolCall` / tracer `until.mcp`.
- PostHog learning signals emit only `until_mcp_feedback_submitted` /
`until_mcp_tool_called` and `until_version`.
- Delete `services/until-backend/telemetrydual/` and boot with
`InitTracingFromViperOrExit("until-backend")` (no `service.name.legacy`,
no tracer wrap). Drop unused `go/tracing` legacy-wrap options.
- Update OTel skill, until-backend READMEs, operator runbooks, and
shrink the docs-terminology telemetry allowlist.
- Out of scope (do not review as missing): Honeycomb Terraform, MCP JSON
aliases (`brent_version` / `loop` / `workflow`), handler package, env
prefixes, River job kinds, ENG-6197 CI grep gate.
- Merge gate (human): Elliot and Daniel confirm Honeycomb board
`GohAvbsPmAD` and PostHog queries they care about already use Until
keys.

<!-- CURSOR_AGENT_PR_BODY_BEGIN -->
## Summary

Adds a CI test that prevents new `brent.*` or `ovm.brent.*` telemetry
literals from being introduced in Go source code after the dual-write
wrapper removal (ENG-6186).

Resolves [ENG-6197](https://linear.app/overmind/issue/ENG-6197)

## Changes

- Added `TestNoNewBrentTelemetryLiterals` in
`go/tracing/telemetry_naming_test.go`
- Test scans all Go source files for string literals matching `brent.*`
or `ovm.brent.*` patterns
- Checks if matches appear in telemetry contexts:
  - Span names: `tracer.Start(ctx, "name")`
  - Attribute keys: `attribute.String("key", ...)`
  - Log field keys: `WithField("key", ...)`
  - Span attributes: `span.SetAttributes(...)`
- Explicitly allowlists non-telemetry identifiers:
  - River job names (internal worker identifiers)
  - Test fixture URLs
  - File paths and directory references
  - Proto field comments
  - Package/function names in strings

## Scope

**In scope (what this gate checks):**
- Go source telemetry emissions only
- Span names, tracer names, attribute keys, log field keys, Sentry tag
keys
- Actual runtime telemetry that would appear in Honeycomb/Sentry

**Out of scope (not checked by this gate):**
- Non-telemetry identifiers (JSON aliases, env prefixes, package names)
- Generated protobuf files (`.pb.go`)
- Non-Go files
- Historical/existing code (test passes on current tree)

## Proof

✅ Test passes on current clean tree (post-ENG-6186)
✅ Test correctly fails on synthetic violations (manually verified)
✅ Test runs automatically in CI via `utility-test` job
✅ All existing tracing tests still pass
✅ Linter passes with no issues

## Testing

```bash
cd go/tracing
go test -v -run TestNoNewBrentTelemetryLiterals  # passes
golangci-lint run ./...                           # no issues
go test -race -v ./...                            # all tests pass
```

## CI Integration

The test runs automatically as part of the `utility-test` job in
`.github/workflows/ci.yml`, which explicitly includes `./go/tracing/...`
in its test suite. Changes to `go/tracing/**` files trigger the utility
path filter.

<!-- CURSOR_AGENT_PR_BODY_BEGIN -->
## Summary

Renames remaining `BRENT_BACKEND_*` / `BRENT_FIELDCRYPTO_*` runtime env
identity to Until across Go config, K8s manifests, Terraform, and
documentation.

## CI fixes

- Reverted comment-only edits to four applied Atlas migration files
(they changed checksums without updating `atlas.sum`, breaking `dbtool
db up` in CI)
- Increased `TestRunAgent_UnboundedToolRoundsDoesNotHitLimit` timeout to
2s to avoid flaky 29/30 tool-call failures under `-race` on CI runners

## Plan / review fixes

All flagged plan differences and Cursor bot review items addressed,
including ADR 0053 for the env contract rename.

## Testing

- `go test ./services/until-backend/cmd/...` — pass
- `go run ./build/dbtool db up` + `regen` — pass
- `go test ./loops -run TestRunAgent_UnboundedToolRoundsDoesNotHitLimit
-race` — pass
