Welcome to the documentation for the iDotMatrix WLED Usermod 0.9.4 stable release.

release=0.9.4
build=0.9.4
stable=0.9.4
status=stable release

Current qualification status

The 0.9.4 release is hardware-qualified on the Waveshare ESP32-S3-RGB-Matrix and Adafruit MatrixPortal S3 native HUB75 targets.

On Waveshare, native 64x64 plus logical 16x16 and 32x32 automatic scaling are verified on a physical 64x64 panel. BLE reconnect, TEXT, static image, GIF, Carousel, reboot/persistence, Alarm/Program, Matrix Auto Rotation and local AudioReactive operation are hardware-verified. The qualified GIF path uses guarded whole-file PSRAM staging, bounded persistent source reuse and one-item look-ahead prefetch. The final hardware gate also verified Alarm and two-activity Schedule persistence across reboot and successful Alarm execution after reboot.

On MatrixPortal S3, the 64x64 HUB75 path is qualified with target-specific PSRAM limits: 256 KiB transient GIF staging, 1 MiB reserve, 384 KiB persistent source cache, 256 KiB per entry, 8 metadata entries and one-item look-ahead. The seven-GIF qualification corpus fits entirely in the cache and passed staging, reuse, prefetch, invalidation/eviction and PSRAM-invariant checks.

For local microphone input on Waveshare, disable UDP Sound Sync receive mode; otherwise AudioReactive reports UDP receive and suspends local processing.

The dedicated Waveshare build profile is:

override    = overrides/waveshare-s3-hub75.ini
environment = waveshare
WLED        = 17.0.0-devV5

0.9.4 is the current production release; 0.9.3 is the previous stable release.

Release identification

The project uses two version values:

  • release: the public release line, currently 0.9.4;
  • build: the exact internal working identifier, currently 0.9.4.

Scope

This Wiki documents the behavior implemented and verified by the WLED Usermod. The standalone ESP32 emulator remains useful for protocol archaeology and for comparing behavior with captured original-device traffic, but WLED-specific behavior is documented here.

Security note

The original iDotMatrix BLE profile exposes writable GATT characteristics without mandatory pairing or application authentication. Compatibility mode preserves that behavior. A nearby BLE peer may therefore issue supported commands. CRC32 protects media integrity; it is not an authentication mechanism.
