Add a debug mode to gauge the times each operation takes for a set of API's or a series of tasks may take.

A simple --debug will do, this should not exist inside of persistent configuration
Describe alternatives you've considered
None - this is actually a way to debug a specific problem that seems to come around every few months from one individual. If this helps in their diagnosis of something I'm happy to accommodate it but in the grand scheme I do not believe it will help them - but it would serve as a useful tool nonetheless.
