Closes #595. This is the changelog entry for the PHP 8.1 update and its sub-issues, written after all of them were merged.

What changed

CHANGELOG.md has new 3.1.0 entries, as the net change from 3.0.3:

• Changed
  • PHP minimum 8.1, with the return types on ResponseHeaders and DatabaseHandler::gc(), and the Rector syntax (Raise the minimum PHP version to 8.1 and test every supported PHP branch in CI #595, Adopt the PHP 8.1 syntax Rector proposes and remove its skips #601).
  • Symfony 6.4 (Move symfony/console, var-dumper and var-exporter to the 6.4 LTS line #596).
  • psr/log 2 or 3 (Allow psr/log 3 next to psr/log 2 #599).
  • OpenAPI attributes in the API templates, and doctrine/annotations removed (Write the OpenAPI docs in the API templates as attributes and drop doctrine/annotations #597).
  • Deprecations are logged instead of thrown (Fix the PDO::quote() null deprecation in Idiorm query logging on PHP 8.1+ #598).
• Fixed
  • DatabaseHandler::gc() returns the number of deleted sessions (Raise the minimum PHP version to 8.1 and test every supported PHP branch in CI #595).
  • install:openapi creates its missing folders (Make install:openapi create the folders it needs #606).

Why

The 3.1.0 section is the record of what upgrading from 3.0.3 means. The breaking entries say what an application has to do: stay on 3.0.x on PHP 8.0, convert @OA docblocks to attributes (or require doctrine/annotations), and expect deprecations in the log instead of an error page.

Notes for reviewers

• The 3.0.3 note that kept OpenAPI on annotations is left as it was, since it was true for that release. The new OpenAPI entry says it replaces it.
• The docs (the PHP requirement, the Tracer pages, the cli/code-generation.md wording) and the upgrade guide are separate pull requests in the docs repository.
