Roadmap

[nmndwivedi]

Where Quickdraw is headed. Nothing here is promised on a date; everything here is open to contribution — comment on an item to pick it up.

Near term

• SVG export — PNG export exists (whole board or selection); SVG would make exports scale and diff. The renderer already draws every shape from a plain record, so an SVG walker can mirror drawShape.
• More geo shapes — GEO_IDS is rectangle, ellipse, triangle, diamond, hexagon, star. Cloud, speech bubble, parallelogram, and arrow-block are natural additions (good first issues).
• Shortcut cheat-sheet overlay — press ? to see the keyboard map in-app.
• Collaboration example — the store already emits/applies JSON diffs with source tagging; ship a tiny WebSocket relay + example wiring two browsers together.

Medium term

• Multiplayer presence — remote cursors and selections drawn from peer diffs.
• Custom shape API — a documented way to register a shape type (draw + hit-test + bounds) without forking the engine.
• Frames / containers — group regions of the board for export and navigation.
• Accessibility pass — keyboard-only shape placement, screen-reader labels on the toolbar.

Someday

• Rich text in notes and labels
• Document embeds (video, web pages)
• A CRDT-backed sync package

I seriously liked this project, Let me know what you are working on and I will pick up the rest.

Wouldn't make something like "Custom shape API" the whole project more modular, extendible and testable for shapes? Therefor that might something, that should come especially before adding more shapes.

I'd love to see the following features:

1. [High] More text formatting options, especially the ability to use bold, italics, underline, links, etc.
2. [Medium] More text sizes options (e.g. h1, h2, h3, etc.)
3. [High] Option to use conventional geometric shapes instead of forcing the user into the hand-drawn style
4. [Low] Would be nice to double-click a shape and be able to type into it

My use case is that I'd like to generate arbitrary diagrams and visualizations in the tools, so often having something like a database schema requires showing a lot of fine-grained text detail.

Thank you so much for publishing this project!
