SPITBOL is an implementtion of the SNOBOL4 language.
Mark Emmer (of Catspaw) provided the source code to David Shields and that was used for the initial github repository load. The source code was provided under a GPL V2 or later license (Robert Dewar, Robert Goldberg, Mark Emmer, et al).
David Shields has retired from maintaining the project.
It is the purpose of this project to preserve and maintain the SPITBOL implementation.
