Please tell us about yourself (include an email address):
Assalamoalikum. My name is Afzaal Shaukat and I am building an app for a family to read and track progress of Quran and Hadith. The app will be used by adults and children and adults can track their young ones progress and learning and encourage them to read the Quran and Hadiths.
Your purpose in using this API:
One-time content sourcing only. I need the daily adhkar and duas from Hisn al-Muslim, plus the supporting narrations from the primary collections — to embed in the app's offline data, with each item displaying its collection, hadith number and grading on screen and crediting sunnah.com as the source. The app is offline-first and will never call the API at runtime..
API rate limits:
Not needed if a dump is available. Otherwise a few hundred requests, once.
Is your use case better served by having an offline dump of hadith data or programmatic API access?
An offline dump. The app bundles its content and never fetches at runtime, so a dump eliminates any load on your servers and is the better fit for both of us. Hisn al-Muslim is the collection I most need.
What are the languages in which would you like hadith data?
Arabic with full diacritics, and English. Urdu too if it exists — most of this app's households read it.
What programming language will your API client be in?
PHP (Laravel) and TypeScript.
